Epee Group Leads Women's Fencing At Yale Saturday

NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Vassar College epee lineup, which has been simply sensational all season, continued its success by going 6-3 against Yale University Saturday. The Brewers would fall to the Bulldogs 19-8, but rebounded with a sound 20-7 victory over Drew University in action from the Yale Fencing Salon.

In the opening match of the afternoon, freshman Olivia Weiss continued her fantastic fencing, as she went 3-0 in epee. Rachel Messbauer also added two wins in epee, while Megan Lewis (epee), Elsa Stoff (foil) and Claudia Carcamo (foil) each posted wins against the hosts.

In Vassar's emphatic win over Drew, Stoff and Weiss were both 2-0 in the match, while Messbauer, Lewis and Amreen Bhasin were also 1-0 in epee. Kathleen Konno, Lily Elbaum and Marisa Tomaino each chalked up wins in sabre for VC.

Weiss was 5-0 on the day, and has now won her last 17 bouts dating back to last week. Weiss is 62-22 now on the year, while Stoff continues to pace the Brewers with a superb 70-26.
