What To Watch For
The Brewers will be looking to defend their title at the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational this Sunday, as Vassar College went an unblemished 5-0 last year, falling in just 18 of their 135 bouts on the day. The Brewers have never lost a match at the Matt Lampell event going back to 2009-10 season. Expect Vassar College to once again be the favorite to win the Invitational, as Vassar College had a great start to the season last week and has a chance to win the Northeast Fencing Conference this year.

A Look At The Matt Lampell Invitational Field
Vassar College hosts six teams Sunday afternoon, as Cornell University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bard College, University of Albany, Marist College and Army. Many of the teams coming are club teams, so the NCAA statistics for the Brewers won't get much of a bump up, but the event will allow VC to get some experience to some other fencers.

Stellar Sabre
The Brewer sabre team is once again one of the most talented and deepest in the region, as it led Vassar with 46 wins last week at the Vassar College Invitational. Sophomore Campbell Woods (Newport Beach, CA/Corona Del Mar) led the way with 15 wins, while freshman Eli Polston (Silver Spring, MD/Einstein) added 11 victories.

Racek Time
In his first collegiate meet, freshman Tom Racek (Clark's Summit, PA/Abington Height) led the foil team with 15 wins, including winning all three bouts during four matches.

Diaper Dandies
The Brewers have a phenomenal freshman class, as the six newcomers combined to go 58-25 last weekend at the Vassar Invitational. The 58 wins were the most by any class for the Brewers.

Winning Leaders
Team captains Tré Artis (Jamaica, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) and Elam Coalson (River Forest, IL/Oak Park & River Forest) had a solid weekend to start the season, as Artis was 14-7 in foil and Coalson chalked up nine wins while leading the sabre squad to the most wins of any squad.

Major Upset
Tré Artis had one of the best wins of the day against Sacred Heart last Sunday, as he defeated NCAA National qualifier Andrew Holmes 5-4 in foil.

Strong Start
Vassar College won 17 of the 21 squad battles last weekend, winning seven or more times in a single weapon group 10 times.

Up Next
The Brewers are off until December 7, traveling to Fairfield, CT to take part in the prestigious Sacred Heart Tournament. VC will battle New York University, No. 3 Harvard University, No. 1 Penn State University , No. 5 Princeton University and Temple University.
