NEW YORK, NY (November 1, 2014) – The Vassar men's swimming team competed in its second dual meet of the season Saturday afternoon, swimming against powerhouse New York University at the Palladium Athletic Center. The Violets came away with the meet victory, winning 204-62 to remain undefeated in duals this season. Vassar is now 1-1 in the early goings of the season.
"It was great to see us come out and compete hard today," said head coach Lisl Prater-Lee. "NYU is obviously a very good team, but meet-by-meet we are building races and improving and that's important for what we're working towards."
Sophomore Ian Quinn (Montclair, NJ/Seton Hall Preparatory School) had a solid day for the Brewers, posting a time of 59.48 in the 100 yard butterfly while finishing in 23.69 in the 50 yard freestyle.
Sophomore Chris Cerutti (Mount Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) was the top Brewer in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:59.09.
Senior Luc Amodio (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) was the top Vassar swimmer in the 100 backstroke (57.02) and 100 freestyle (52.26).
Freshman Jonah Strand (Woodstock, NY/Onteora Central) was second in the 200 backstroke, posting a solid mark of 2:21.20. Strand was also tops for Vassar in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:04.39.
Vassar will host its first meet of the season next Saturday when the Brewers welcome Skidmore to Kresge Pool.
