Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to NYU; Amodio Wins Two Races

NEW YORK, NY (January 26, 2013) – The Vassar College men's wimming team lost to New York University, 149-65, Saturday afternoon in the final away dual meet of the 2012-13 season.

Sophomore Luc Amodio was a dual-winning in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:09.30) and in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:24.11).

The Brewers will next host the Sprint Invitational on Saturday, February 2 for a 1:00 pm start. NYU will next send members to the UAA Championships hosted by the University of Chicago on February 14-16.

Freshman Greg Cristina won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 51.06 in a split decision over NYU's Noah Cheng (51.32). The 200 Yard Free Relay of Cristina, freshman Chuck Hermann, senior Simon Whitelaw and senior Mathue Duhaney took first with a time of 1:33.63. Duhaney's split as the anchor was a season best, 22.10.

The Brewers had multiple second place finishes starting with the 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Hermann, freshman Isaiah Hale, Duhaney and Amodio (1:45.44), Duhaney in the 50 Yard Free (22.96), Hermann in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:15.88), sophomore Matt Weiss in the 200 Breast (2:32.73).
Hale's third place in the 500 Yard Free was a season best with a time of 5:16.32.

"Our team came in upbeat and with good attitudes with this being the last coed meet of the season," head coach Lisl Prater-Lee said. "We're happy with what they did and it puts the pieces in place for what happens four weeks from now."
