AUBURNDALE, FL (March 18, 2011) -- The Vassar College men's baseball team was outplayed by Franklin & Marshall Friday morning, and lost the final game of its Spring Break trip 12-0 in seven innings at Lake Myrtle Field.

Vassar went 4-2 at the RussMatt Invitational, and will take that record back to New York as it faces Mount Saint Mary College in a home game Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Franklin & Marshall improves to 7-6, and will host Susquehanna for a double-header Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.

Franklin & Marshall scored in every inning but the third, and watched its left handed starter Matt Valente pitch a gem to keep a strong Brewers offense off the scoreboard. Valente allowed just four hits and one walk in six innings pitched, and earned his first win of the year (1-1).

Vassar starter Joe Lovizio came in 1-0, but was not as successful keeping the Diplomats off the bases. He gave up ten hits and eight runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Franklin and Marshall's biggest inning was the fourth, when they plated four runs on four hits and one Vassar error. They scored one run in the first and fifth innings, and two in the second, sixth and seventh.

The Diplomats were led by Matt Will, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Blue Wells, who was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Franklin & Marshall recorded 16 hits as a team.
