SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (November 5, 2011) -- The Vassar College men's swimming and diving team won its second straight dual meet with a 167-128 win over Liberty League opponent Skidmore College on Saturday.

“It was a fun meet for everyone and we're starting to realize our versatility and strength,” said head coach Lisl Prater-Lee. “It's huge for us to be 2-0 on both sides and we're building momentum heading into RPI this weekend.”

The Brewers (2-0) race RPI on the road this Saturday, November 12, at 1:00 p.m.

Vassar's Greg Sullivan faced tough competition on the boards in Skidmore's Doug Pilawa but posted another NCAA provisional qualifying time with a 290.3, good for second place in the 1-meter diving event. Pilawa won the event with a score of 347.80. Sullivan will now be fully considered for the NCAA Championships. “Greg and Doug know each other so competing today brought out the best in both of them,” said Prater-Lee.

Rafael Ricuarte, also a member of the cross country and track programs, finished third of four divers. “It really helped to have two men's divers competing,” said Prater-Lee. “Raf joined us without having dived before and he's doing great things on the boards.”

Vassar took control of the meet with several one-two finishes. In the 200-yard butterfly, Nicholas Veazie took first in 2:06.88 and Francis Driscooll was second in 2:12.90.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Mathue Duhaney claimed first place in 57.25 and Veazie was second in 58.15.

In the 200-yard IM, Jack Smart won first (2:09.38) followed by Matthew Weiss (2:16.73). Smart also won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:53.50. Charles Herrman supported with a fourth place finish in 2:01.74.

The Brewers went one-three-five in the 100-yard backstroke as Luc Amodio took first (57.86), Kevin Lee finished third (1:01.78), and Ian Madison was fifth (1:05.72).

Driscoll won the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:41.02 and Evan Einstein posted a lifetime best in 12:32.19, good for fifth.
