Round 1 – Vassar 17- Rutgers 10
Vassar's first match against the new Rutgers University Fencing Club Team was very successful. The epee squad had some trouble, going only 4-5, but sabre did well at 6-3 and foil rolled along at 7-2.
Round 2 – Vassar 12 – Sacred Heart 15
Despite a great 7-2 run by the foil squad with Sophomore Melissa Lee going 3-0, and a 3-0 performance by epeeist Sophie Courser, the team was unable to sustain the momentum against strong Sacred Heart sabre and epee squads.
Round 3 – Vassar 24 – Yeshiva 3
This was the first match for the brand new Yeshiva University women's fencing team. Despite a spirited performance, Vassar handled them very well, with the sabre squas sweeping at 9-0. New epee fencing Dorie Obertello fenced her first NCAA bout and had her first victory.
Round 4 – Vassar 21 – CCNY 6
Vassar Epee had some trouble with CCNY this year, dropping some close bouts to finish at 4-5, but sabre cruised at 9-0 and foil at 8-1.
Round 5 – Vassar 21 – Marist 6
Vassar hosted its crosstown rivals again this year. Although is was a bit close in epee, with Marist prevailing 5-4, Vassar Sabre and Foil came to the rescue going 8-1 and 9-0 respectively.
The next match for the Vassar Women's fencing team will be at Princeton on Saturday, December 1 against Princeton, Harvard, Penn State, UNC, and NYU.
