Re-setting one school record and making ground against RPI in the 200 yd. medley relay were some of the many highlights.
All three Vassar men divers scored in the 1-meter event (6-dive optionals) in which Roo Wood (Poughkeepsie, NY/ Poughkeepsie Day) added 7 points to his previous all-time Vassar mark for a new 1-meter record of 234.08 (former record 227.0, 2006). Wood was joined by fellow teammate divers Aaron
Lefkowitz (Sharon, MA/Alldredge Academy) and Don Pinkus (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) for 4th (136.35 points) and 5th (127.65), respectively.
The 200 yd medley relay of Alistair Hall (Montreal, Canada/West Morris Mendham), Tom Liu (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), John Alaimo BBlauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee), and Jeremy Shiman (Brookline, MA/Brookline) dropped 2 seconds from last week's effort for a more competitive 1:45.52, 2nd place effort.
Alaimo continued his outstanding day after the relay by taking 1st in two events (200 yd. free, 1:51.25; 100 yd. fly, 56.19) and just getting out-touched for a 2nd place in the 200 yd. IM (2:05.00). Sophomore Andrew Yau (Bangor, ME/Bangor), who often swims the distance freestyle event to help the team, swam the 200 yd. free for an in-season best time of 2:02.97, 4th place. Freshman Joe Zaino (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Dobbs Ferry) debuted in the 1000 yd. free with his 12:18.72, 4th place finish.
Coach
Lisl Prater-Lee commented, "RPI often has a strong team but we can be proud of the fact that we stepped up and gave them very solid races and never let up. It didn't matter where we were in the pool, we raced."
