Poughkeepsie, NY - The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) announced its All-Region selections on Monday afternoon as four Vassar College Men's Fencing team student-athletes were named to the Northeast Region Division III team. First year
Alexander North, senior
Eli Weise and junior
Brian Li were all named to the All-Region epee squad while first year
David Sagardi Diaz earned All-region status in sabre.
North finished 12th overall in epee at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships as he totaled 10 total victories to advance into the final pool of the Regional. The first year also posted a record of 16-2 over the two days at the Northeast Fencing Conference meet to earn the NFC Fencer of the Year (first since Eli Polston in 2016) and NFC Rookie of the Year titles. North also reached the individual final at the NEIFC The Big One this season.
Weise earned a 14th place finish in epee at the Regional Championship following five wins and made it to the penultimate round of the Championship. Weise also collected NFC Second Team All-Star recognition following his efforts at the NFC Meet.
Li posted a strong 20th place finish in epee at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in epee as he posted eight total wins over three rounds in the Regional. Li also added eight wins at the NEIFC Championships to help the epee squad finish second overall.
Sagardi Diaz secured a 16th place finish in sabre at the Regional Championships as he totaled five wins and advanced to the penultimate round. Sagardi Diaz also helped Vassar finish fifth overall at the NEIFC Team Championships, where he tallied 11 total victories over two rounds.
