Men's Fencing Competes at Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational

Brewers will head to Columbia on Wednesday, February 12th for the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet

Staten Island, NY - The Vassar College Men's Fencing team competed well at the Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational at Wagner College on Sunday against Division I foes St. John's, Columbia and the host Seahawks.

SJU 15 VC 12

Epee - SJU 6 VC 3
- Senior Eli Weise earned two victories along with first year Alexander North securing a win.
- Sophomore Christopher Garfield Siebert battled in three bouts.
Foil - SJU 5 VC 4
- First year Alexander Gobbo tallied two victories while senior Brady Traugot and first year Kahlil Salome each added a win.
Sabre - VC 5 SJU 4
- First year Devan McCarthy earned a perfect 3-0 round while classmate David Sagardi Diaz scored two victories.
- First year Cezar Mahmoud battled in two bouts along with first year Karthik Shankar competing in one bout.

Columbia 23 VC 4

Epee - COL 6 VC 3
- North earned three big victories against Columbia.
- First year Sam Sosnick and senior Devaansh Singh each competed in three bouts.
Foil - COL 9 VC 0
- First year Ethan Capra, Gobbo and Traugot all battled in three bouts each.
Sabre - COL 8 VC 1
- McCarthy tallied a win while Sagardi Diaz and Mahmoud each fenced in three bouts.

Wagner 15 VC 12

Epee - WAG 5 VC 4
- Weise and North each secured two victories each.
- Sosnick fenced in two bouts along with Garfield Siebert battling in one bout.
Foil - VC 5 WAG 4
- Traugot posted an undefeated 3-0 round while Gobbo and Capra each added a victory.
Sabre - WAG 6 VC 3
- Sagardi Diaz scored two wins along with McCarthy earning a victory.
- Shankar battled in two bouts while Mahmoud battled in one.
