Women’s Swimming And Diving Opens Competition At Bomber Invitational

Hoagland top qualifier in 500-yard freestyle

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team opened the 2025 Bomber Invitational Thursday morning with preliminary swims in three events. 10 different Brewers qualified for Thursday evening's finals session, including Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) and Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) who were the top two qualifiers in the 500-yard freestyle.

Diving

Diving preliminaries are in progress and will score following tonight's finals sessions. First Year Graciela Leahy (Columbus, OH) will be competing for Vassar in the 1-meter event on Thursday.

For The Brewers

Hoagland was the quickest in prelims for Vassar in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a season best time of 5:11.06.
Following closely as the second fastest qualifier on Thursday was Wiener, who touched out in a season best time of 5:11.13.
First Years Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) and Izzy Holmes (New York, NY) will each be back for Thursday's finals after swimming season best times of 5:30.26 and 5:39.76, respectively.
Stephanie Norris (Santa Barbara, CA) qualified for Thursday's finals in the 200-yard individual medley after swimming a season best time of 2:20.42 in the prelims.
Senior Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) led five Brewers to qualify for the finals session in the 50-yard freestyle, touching out ninth fastest with a season best time of 24.62 seconds.
First Year Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) was 11^th fastest in qualifying with a season best mark of 24.79 seconds.
Classmate Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) touched out in a lifetime best time of 25.11 seconds, good for the 13^th fastest time in Thursday's prelims.
Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) and Alaina Desautels (Arlington, VA) will also be back in action Thursday evening after posting season best prelim times of 25.24 and 25.56, respectively.

What's Next

Thursday's finals session is scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m.
