Addie Wiener Places Second In 500-Yard Freestyle At Bomber Invitational

Brewers post five top-10 finishes on first day of events

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team turned in a strong performance on the first day of the 2025 Bomber Invitational, ranking fourth out of seven teams with 327 points. Senior Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) highlighted five top-10 finishes on Thursday with a runner-up showing in the 500-yard freestyle.

For The Brewers

Wiener highlighted a strong finals session for the Brewers with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle Thursday night. The three-time defending Liberty League Champion in the event, touched out in a time of 5:10.66, improving a season best prelim swim by nearly a full second.
Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NY) placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday night for the Brewers, posting a time of 5:13.59.
First Years Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) and Izzy Holmes (New York, NY) both improved season best swims from the prelim session Thursday night with times of 5:28.24 and 5:36.68 swimming in the 'C' final.
Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) led five swimmers for Vassar in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a ninth-place finish on Thursday. McLaughlin swam a new season-best time of 24.51 seconds in the final for the Brewers.
First Year Alaina Desautels (Arlington, VA) clipped her previous season best in the event on Thursday night with a time of 25.51 seconds, good for the 20^th position overall.
Swimming in the 'B' final of the 50-yartd freestyle, Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ), Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) and Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) placed 12^th, 13^th and 14^th overall with times of 24.87, 25.38 and 25.43, respectively.
Stephanie Norris (Santa Barbara, CA) turned in a strong swim in the 'B' final of the 200-yard individual medley on Thursday night, placing 13^th overall in a time of 2:20.25, a new season best in the event.
In relay action on Thursday night, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of McLaughlin, Baker, Wiener and Ford took the third position in a time of 1:38.93.
Vassar's second entry in the event of Masters, Desautels, Petersen and Hoagland swam to a 10^th-place finish in 1:41.63.
To close the evening session, the 400-yard medley relay team of Ford, Anna Little (North Huntingdon, PA), Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) and Wiener finished fourth overall in 4:01.15.
Vassar's second squad of Baker, Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD), Holmes and Hoagland placed 11^th in 4:12.88.

What's Next

Vassar begins the second day of events at the Bomber Invitational with preliminary swims scheduled to get underway at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning.
