Vassar Competes Against Liberty League Rival RPI

Brewers swim several season bests Saturday afternoon

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Brewers posted several season best performances on Saturday when it hosted Liberty League rival RPI at Kresge Pool. The Brewers won six events on the day, including two apiece from Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) and Anna Little (North Huntingdon, PA), in a 193-104 defeat to the Engineers.
 
Saturday's result drops Vassar to 3-3 overall on the season.
 
For The Brewers
  • Wiener scored victories on Saturday in both the 200-yard (1:57.35) and 500-yard freestyle (5:24.28) events, posting a season-best swim in the 500-yard race.
  • Little continued to dominate the breaststroke races on Saturday, topping the field in both the 100-yard (1:08.98) and 200-yard (2:28.78) events, touching out in a season best time in the 100-yard race.
  • Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) posted a season-best finish (2:21.57) in winning the 200-yard butterfly on Saturday. Li added a third-place finish for the Brewers in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.47) against the Engineers.
  • Senior Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) swam to a pair of runner-up finishes for the Brewers, finishing second in the 50-yard (24.96) and 100-yard (54.94) events. McLaughlin touched out with a season-best swim in the 50-yard race.
  • Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) turned in a season-best swim on Saturday in the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.13) in a third-place finish.
  • Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) touched out third for Vassar on Saturday in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.17).
  • Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) swam to a third-place finish for the Brewers in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:37.38).
  • Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) placed third for the Brewers in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.00).
  • First Year Graciela Leahy (Columbus, OH) recorded season-best marks off both boards, placing sixth (149.63) in 1-meter diving and fourth (150.75) in 3-meter diving.
  • Vassar opened the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with the squad of Ford, Little, Li and McLaughlin besting the field in 1:51.39.
  • The Brewers closed the day with the quartet of Ford, Hoagland, Wiener and McLaughlin placing second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:45.63.
 
What's Next
  • The Brewers return to action on December 4 when it opens the three-day Bomber Invitation on December 4.
