Women’s Swimming And Diving Cruises To Road Victory At Brandeis

Brewers win each event contested on Saturday

Waltham, MA – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team won for the third straight time to open the season on Saturday with an impressive 186-87 road victory at Brandeis. The Brewers posted the fastest time in each event contested against the Judges with five different Brewers winning two events apiece.

Saturday's win pushes Vassar to a perfect 3-0 through three decisions with the Judges opening the season at 0-1.

For The Brewers

A pair of Brewers made their season debuts on Saturday with Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) and Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) combing for three victories.
Wiener scored victories in the 200-yard (2:00.66) and 500-yard freestyle (5:39.33) for the Brewers.
Wiener picked up a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle (56.58).
McLaughlin touched out first for Vassar in the 50-yard freestyle (25.62) and followed Wiener in the 200-yard event (2:02.01).
Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) ha a strong day for the Brewers and topped the field in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:32.73) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.55).
First Year Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) turned in a strong meet with victories in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.61) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.43).
Ford also scored a runner-up finish for the Brewers in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.27).
Anna Little (North Huntingdon, PA) was first to finish on Saturday in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.32) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.51).
Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) scored victories on Saturday in both the 200-yard (2:15.84) and 100-yard (1:01.35) butterfly events.
Li also touched out second on Saturday in the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.63).
First Year Izzy Holmes (New York, NY) swam to a pair of second-place finishes, taking the runner-up spot in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.59) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:46.61).
Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) in the 100-yard backstroke, Alaina Desautels (Arlington, VA) in the 50-yard freestyle, Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) in the 200-yard backstroke, Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD) in the 200-yard breaststroke and Ella Maniatis (Lafayette, CA) in 1-meter diving all produced runner-up finishes for the Brewers.
Vassar also posted the quickest times in each of the two relay races contested on Saturday.
To open the day, the 200-yard medley team of Baker, Little, Li and McLaughlin posted a time of 1:54.12.
In the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle squad of Ford, Desautels, Hoagland and McLaughlin touched out in a time of 3:50.96.
