Vassar Cruises To Season Opening Victories Over Bard, New Paltz

Brewers post 12 victories in sweep

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team swam past Bard 153-18 and New Paltz 152-57 on Wednesday to open the 2025-26 season. The Brewers won 12 events in the meet at Kresge Pool, getting two victories apiece from Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) and Anna Little (North Huntingdon, PA).
 
Vassar kicks-off the season with a 2-0 record with New Paltz sitting at 1-1 ad Bard at 0-2.
 
For The Brewers
  • Hoagland got the season off to a strong start with victories for the Brewers in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.12) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.77).
  • Little topped the field on Wednesday in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.91) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.58).
  • Senior Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) scored a win in the longest event of the evening, posting a time of 11:27.03 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Vietti went on to finish second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.80).
  • Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) touched out first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.22) and added a runner-up finish for the Brewers in the 100-yard freestyle (57.90).
  • Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) posted a winning swim in the 100-yard butterfly on Wednesday, showing a time of 1:00.10.
  • First Year Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) won the 100-yard freestyle for the Brewers (55.42).
  • Classmate Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke for Vassar (1:02.13).
  • Caroline Griem (Brooklyn, NY) opened the season with a victory in 1-meter diving on Wednesday, posting a score of 136.60.
  • Graciela Leahy (Columbus, OH) opened her collegiate career with a win off the 3-meter board (69.90) and placed second in 1-meter diving (106.30).
  • First Year Isabel Holmes (New York, NY) turned in a pair of runner-up finishes, placing second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.37) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.02).
  • Alaina Desautels (Arlington, VA) touched out second on Wednesday in the 50-yard freestyle (26.36).
  • Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) finished second for the Brewers in the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.53).
  • Abigail Mirick (Stoneham, MA) in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD) in the 100-yard breaststroke each finished with third-place finishes on Wednesday for the Brewers.
  • Vassar took the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay race with the team of Baker, Little, Li and Ford winning in a time of 1:53.90.
  • The quartet of Petersen, D'Addario, Holmes and Desautels was the runner-up in 2:03.00.
 
What's Next
  • Vassar is off until October 25 when it travels to Brandeis.
