Women’s Track And Field Dominates On Senior Day

Schoenegge smashes 1,500-meter record

Poughkeepsie, NY – In their final career home meet, the Vassar seniors helped the Brewers to a dominate performance on Friday, as the Brewers won their Twilight Invitational with 237 points. On a day the senior class was celebrated, First Year Haley Schoenegge (Prospect, KY) broke her own school record in the 1,500-meters.

1,500-meters

Schoenegge turned in a strong run on Friday, winning the race in a time of 4:25.40. Schoenegge topped the runner-up by nearly six seconds and topped the previous school record of 4:39.07. Friday's time was also the third fastest time in the country.
Anika Mueller-Hickler (Katy, Texas) also set a personal record with a time of 4:54.98, good for sixth-place.

4x100 Relay

The team of Jamie Eu (San Francisco, CA), Ava Novak (Los Angeles, CA), Jahmilia Dennis (Uniondale, NY) and Traci Francis (Westbrook, ME) won the event in a time of 49.04 seconds.

100-Meter Hurdles

Dennis scored a victory for the Brewers in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 15.72 seconds.
Freja Niklasson (Sebastopol, CA) posted a season-best time of 16.18 seconds, placing fourth in the event.
Senior Nora Jensen (Cooperstown, NY) finished fifth in 16.97 seconds.

400-Meters

Margaret McLaughlin (Valleyford, WA) finished fifth for the Brewers, recording a time of 1:05.96.

100-Meters

Vassar took the top three spots in the event.
Novak won the event in a personal best time of 12.48 seconds.
Francis took second with a season best time of 12.88 seconds.
Eu came home third for Vassar in a season best time of 12.92 seconds.

800-Meters

The Brewers also took the top three spots in the 800-meters.
Ava Whitney (Brattleboro, VT) produced a personal best time of 2:19.14 and won the event.
Norah Reade (Florence, MA) was the runner-up in a personal best time of 2:19.60.
Addie Nyhan (Seattle, WA) came home third in a time of 2:21.47.

400-Meter Hurdles

Niklasson was the runner-up on Friday in a season best time of 1:08.90.
Maya Carey (Haddonfield, NJ) posted a personal best time of 1:11.27, placing sixth for the Brewers.

200-Meters

Faye Stevens (Bethel, VT) placed second in a time of 28.02 seconds.
Laura Wong (Newtown, CT) finished with a personal best time of 28.75 seconds and finished seventh.
Lily Falkowski (New York, NY) also finished in a personal best time of 29.00 seconds, placing eighth for the Brewers.

5,000-Meters

Amaavi Miriyagalla (Cortlandt Manor, NY) finished second on Friday, posting a personal best time of 18:21.69.
Acadia Helfand (Astoria, NY), Cayley Swaim (Highland Ranch, CO) and Lily Shimpach (Northampton, MA) all recorded personal best runs on Friday.

High Jump

Abigail Sasson (Setauket, NY) placed third with a mark of 1.40 meters.
Jillian Benfante (Cortlandt Manor, NY) took fourth with a mark of 1.30 meters.

Long Jump

Novak led four Vassar jumpers in the top-five with a second-place finish at 5.24 meters.
Stevens and Dennis each finished the event with season best marks of 5.12 and 5.07, respectively.

Discus

Sydney Petrie (Fond Du Lac, WI) was the runner-up with a heave of 35.96 meters.
Soleil Yuong (Revere, MA) scored a third-place finish with a mark of 31.14 meters.

Shot Put

Kolby Davis (Houston, TX) placed fourth with a personal best mark of 9.56 meters.

What's Next

The Brewers begin competition at the Liberty League Championship on May 3.
