TROY, NY - The Vassar College Women's Track and Field team earned a fourth place finish with 98.5 points at the two-day RPI Under the Lights Invite on Friday evening. Senior
Ava Novak was victorious in the 100 meters and the long jump along with sophomore
Jahmilia Dennis earning victory in the triple jump.
Pentathlon
- First year Abigail Sasson earned a fifth place finish with 2735 points in the pentathlon.
- The first year finished third in the long jump with a leap of 4.81 meters followed by fifth place finish in the javelin throw at 12.37 meters.
- Sasson closed the event with an sixth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 3:10.99.
100 Meter Hurdles
- Senior Nora Jensen qualified for the finals with a fourth place finish in the first round with a time of 17.48.
- Jensen finished the finals with a third place finish, crossing the finish line in 17.23.
100 Meters
- Vassar qualified four runners for the finals with three winning their heats as Novak was first in the first round with a time of 12.75.
- Dennis was third in 13.23, classmate Jamie Eu was fourth with a time of 13.29 and junior Traci Francis was fifth in 13.09.
- Novak took home the victory in the finals with a time of 12.90 while Francis was third in 13.23.
- Eu earned a fourth place finish with a time of 13.29Â and Dennis scored a fifth place finish in a time of 13.39.
1500 Meters
- Sophomore Isabelle Borgstedt earned a sixth place finish, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 5:39.87.
4x100 Relay
- Eu, Novak, Dennis and Francis tallied a second place finish with a time of 51.27.
400 Meters
400 Meter Hurdles
- First year Maya Carey scored a sixth place finish with a time of 1:16.46.
200 Meters
5000 Meters
- Sophomore Lily Shimpach secured an eighth place finish with a time of 20:14.53.
Shot Put
- Sophomore Sydney Petrie posted a personal-best mark of 9.41 meters along with junior Soleil Yuong recording a toss of 8.53 meters.
- Sophomore Kolby Davis earned a personal-best throw of 8.53 meters and classmate Ava Gurley tallied a mark of 7.52 meters.
Discus Throw
- Sophomore Abbe Colgan finished second with a throw of 26.01 meters while Gurley was sixth with a toss of 23.09 meters.
Javelin Throw
- Colgan was 12th overall with a distance of 19.42 meters followed by junior Faye Stevens recording a throw of 19.04 meters.
- First year Jillian Benfante registered a mark of 10.82 meters.
Long Jump
- Novak secured a second victory of the day as the senior posted a mark of 5.26 meters.
- Sophomore Sydney Passley-Harris was fifth overall with a distance of 5.04 meters along with senior Heather Kwafo finishing sixth with a leap of 4.92 meters.
- Eu finished in eighth place with a jump of 4.64 meters.
Triple Jump
- Dennis was once again victorious in the triple jump with a distance of 11.45 meters.
High Jump
- Benfante scored a sixth place finish with a height of 1.30 meters.
