Men's Fencing Triumphs Over Sacred Heart at the Tradition Invite

Brewers pick up win over SHU following six rounds of action

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Men's Fencing team hosted its second meet of the season on Sunday at Walker Field House as the Brewers defeated Sacred Heart at the Tradition Invite.

Round One - NYU 23 VC 4

Epee - NYU 8 VC 1
- Sophomore Brian Li tallied a victory while first year Ansel Spitler and Harper Jamison battled in three bouts.
Foil - NYU 9 VC 0
- First year Ethan Capra, sophomore Ulysses Bergel and first year Alexander Gobbo each fenced in three bouts.
Sabre - NYU 6 VC 3
- First year David Sargardi Diaz earned two victories along with senior Noah Rudnet tallied a win.
- First year Devan McCarthy battled in three bouts.

Round Two - VC 19 SHU 8

Epee - VC 7 SHU 2
- First year Alexander North tallied three victories along with senior Eli Weise and Li earning two wins apiece.
Foil - VC 5 SHU 4
- Capra and Gobbo each secured two wins while senior Brady Traugot earned a victory.
Sabre - VC 7 SHU 2
- McCarthy posted a perfect 3-0 round while Sargardi Diaz and first year Karthik Shankar tallied two wins each.

Round Three - NJIT 15 VC 12

Epee - VC 6 NJIT 3
- Li, North and Weise all scored two victories apiece.
Foil - NJIT 6 VC 3
- Gobbo, Traguot and Capra each scored a win.
Sabre - NJIT 6 VC 3
- Sargardi Diaz earned two victories along with McCarthy tallying a win.
- Shankar battled in three bouts.

Round Four - PRIN 23 VC 4

Epee - PRIN 6 VC 3
- North earned two wins along with Jamison picking up a victory.
- First year Sam Sosnick fenced in two bouts while sophomore Christopher Garfield Siebert battled in one bout.

- Traugot, senior Sean Fisher and first year Kahlil Salome each fenced in three bouts.
Sabre - PRIN 8 VC 1
- Sargardi Diaz scored a victory while McCarthy and senior Justin Lederer battled in three bouts each.

Round Five - LIU 16 VC 11

Epee - VC 5 LIU 4
- North and Weise each scored two wins while Li earned a victory.
Foil - LIU 5 VC 4
- Gobbo posted a perfect 3-0 round while Traugot scored a victory.
- Capra battled in three bouts along with Bergel competing in two bouts.
Sabre - LIU 8 VC 1
- McCarthy scored a victory while sophomore Charlie Cohen fenced in three bouts.
- Shankar battled in two bouts along with junior Fernando Panepinto Hattori competing in one bout.

Round Six - NJIT 23 VC 4

Epee - NJIT 7 VC 2
- Spitler and Jamison each earned a victory.
- Garfield Siebert battled in two bouts along with Sosnick fencing in one bout.

- Bergel and Fisher each fenced in three bouts while first year Hanley Tapia battled in two bouts and Salome fenced in one.

- McCarthy collected two victories while Panepinto Hattori competed in three bouts.
- Cohen fenced in two bouts and senior Justin Lederer battled in one bout.
