Women’s Swimming And Diving Opens Season With Victory At Bard

Knights have strong showing in season debut

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team opened the 2024-25 season Saturday afternoon with a 117-65 road victory at Bard. Sophomore Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) opened the season in strong fashion with a pair of individual victories.
 
Saturday's win opens Vassar's season at 1-0.
 
For The Brewers
  • Li picked up victories for Vassar in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. Li won the IM race in 2:18.87 and added a win in the backstroke race with a stellar early season time of 1:01.75.
  • Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) jumped into the 1,000-yard freestyle event in the season opener for the Brewers and posted a winning time of 11:45.26. Masters also took third for Vassar in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Senior Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) showed great early season sprint speed with a winning time of 25.59 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. McLaughlin added a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Sophomore Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) posted a sparkling early season time of 1:14.19 for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke.
  • Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) scored a victory for Vassar in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:06.00.
  • Anna Little (Irwin, PA) won the 100-yard butterfly for Vassar in 1:05.62 and added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard individual medley, showing a time of 2:23.63.
  • Senior Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) scored a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.08 seconds. Luongo added a second-place swim in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.34 seconds.
  • Caroline Griem (Brooklyn, NY) made her collegiate debut in 1-meter diving, posting a score of 45.61.
  • First Year Tia Spivey (Gate City, VA) was also in action for the first time in a collegiate meet, taking second in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • The 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet with a victory with the team of Li, Little, Spivey and Luongo touching out in a time of 1:59.54.

  • Vassar opens the home schedule on October 26 when it welcomes Brandies to Kresge Pool.
