Brewers Split First Meet Of 2024

Vassar wins seven events on Monday

North Hadley, MA – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team was in the pool for the first time in 2024 Monday afternoon, splitting a non-conference meet with Mount Holyoke and Trinity (CT). The Brewers, who won seven events in the meet, topped the host Lyons by a score of 206-78 and fell to Trinity by a score of 168-125.

Monday's split moves Vassar's dual meet record to 5-3 overall on the season.

Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) won a pair of events on Monday, taking the top spot in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:17.90) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.46).
The Brewers took the top two spots in both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle events with Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) taking the second position in both events with times of 11:25.81 and 5:32.34.
Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.31) and added a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (56.59).
Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ) earned a victory for the Brewers in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.61.
First Year Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) took the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.04) and added runner-up finishes for Vassar in the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.70) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.30).
Bella Rippon (Hershey, PA) had a strong day for the Brewers, winning the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.24) and placing fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.95).
Senior Alejandra Robins (EL Cerrito, CA) swam to a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.52) and added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.95).
Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) finished third for the Brewers in the 50-yard freestyle (25.84) and took the fourth position in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.97).
Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) took the third position in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.46) and 500-yard freestyle (5:32.69).
First Year Ann Little (Irwin, PA) scored a trio of third place finishes, taking the third slot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.87), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.98) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.63).
In the relay events, the Brewers took second in both the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle races.
The medley team of Quintana, Little, Muello and McLaughlin posted a time of 1:53.22.
The freestyle quartet of Wiener, Quintana, McLaughlin and Muello turned in a time of 3:47.05.
