NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Fencing teams headed to Columbia University on Wednesday evening for the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet. The Brewers faced off against the host Lions as well as the NYU Violets in the meet.
In the men's round against NYU, Vassar fell 22-5 with epee winning three bouts. Sophomore

Brian Li and senior
Jack Plumer each tallied a win at epee while freshman
Oliver Berger won twice at sabre.
Against the Violets on the women's side, the Brewers dropped a 19-8 decision. Freshman Abigail Geiger tallied two wins along with rookie Vanessa Mark and sophomore Kira Wheeler adding a victory. Sophomores Naomi Hirsch and Danielle Golden scored two victories apiece at epee for Vassar. In the women's bout against Columbia, Vassar fell 26-1 as freshman Sarah Boucher-Rowe tallied the victory at epee.
The Brewers responded with its first victory against Columbia on the men's side since 2016 with a 14-13 win. Epee led the way with seven victories as senior
Tom Stadnikov and freshman
Brian Li went 3-0 and Weise tallied a victory. Berger scored two wins at sabre along with senior
Conor Travaglione adding a victory. Freshman
Isaiah Kim was undefeated at foil while sophomore
Brady Traugot secured a victory for Vassar.
The men will return to action against Yale next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. while the women will travel to Drew University for the EWFC Championships on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
