Men's Fencing Faces Tough Competition at Sacred Heart's Tradition Invite

Brewers return to action following the New Year for the Matt Lampell Invite

FAIRFIELD, CT - The Vassar College Men's Fencing team closed the 2023 portion of its season with five tough dual matches at the Tradition Invite, hosted by Sacred Heart University on Sunday.

ROUND ONE - NYU 20 VC 7 ROUND TWO - SHU 17 VC 10
  • Epee - SHU 5 VC 4
    • Weise earned two victories while Li and Fisher each added a win.
  • Foil - SHU 7 VC 2
    • Lee scored two wins and sophomore Isaiah Kim and Traugot each competed in three bouts.
  • Sabre - SHU 5 VC 4
    • Berger posted an undefeated mark at 3-0 along with junior Noah Rudnet added a win.
    • Lederer competed in three bouts for the Brewers.
ROUND THREE - PRIN 22 VC 5
  • Epee - PRIN 8 VC 1
    • Weise earned a victory while Li and first year Linus Barnes each competed in three bouts.
  • Foil - PRIN 7 VC 2
    • Lee and Traugout each tallied a win along with Kim battling in three bouts.
  • Sabre - PRIN 7 VC 2
    • Berger scored two victories and Lederer and Rudnet competed in three bouts each.
ROUND FOUR - NJIT 17 VC 10
  • Epee - NJIT 6 VC 3 
    • Weise scored two victories along with Li added a win.
    • Fisher battled in three bouts for VC.
  • Foil - NJIT 5 VC 4
    • Lee posted a perfect 3-0 mark while Kim added a victory and Bergel battled in three bouts.
  • Sabre - NJIT 6 VC 3
    • Berger earned three wins for Vassar while Rudnet battled in three bouts.
    • Cohen fenced in two bouts in round four along with Lederer competed in one bout.
ROUND FIVE - PSU 25 VC 2
  • Epee - PSU 9 VC 0
    • Li, Weise and Fisher all battled in three bouts.
  • Foil - PSU 8 VC 1
    • Kim scored a victory along with Bergel and Lee each fencing three times.
  • Sabre - PSU 8 VC 1
    • Berger earned a win while first year Boxiong Du and Cohen each competed in three bouts.
