MADISON, NJ - The Vassar College Men's Fencing team opened its season with a strong showing at the Drew Ranger Invite in seven rounds. The Brewers finished the day with three victories, led by sophomore Oliver Berger who posted an impressive 19-2 record at sabre on the day.

ROUND 1 - DREW 18 VASSAR 9

• EPEE - DREW 8 VC 1
  • Sophomore Brian Li picked up the lone victory for the Brewers at epee as junior Devaansh Singh and classmate Eli Weise battled hard in three bouts each.
• FOIL - DREW 5 VC 4
  • Senior Benjamin Lee earned two victories at foil.
  • Sophomore Isaiah Kim and junior Brady Traugot each recorded a win.
• SABRE - DREW 5 VC 4
  • Berger went a perfect 3-0 while classmate Fernando Panepinto Hattori tallied a victory.
  • Junior Noah Rudnet competed strong in three bouts.

ROUND 2 - VASSAR 18 CLEMSON 9

• EPEE - VC 7 CLEM 2
  • Junior Sean Fisher and Li each scored perfect 3-0 marks while Singh added a victory for the epee squad.
• FOIL - VC 5 CLEM 4
  • Traugot went undefeated in round two while senior Frank Ryan tallied two victories.
  • Sophomore Ulysses Bergel posted three strong efforts at foil.
• SABRE - VC 6 CLEM 3
  • Berger posted another undefeated mark against the Tigers while Rudnet bounced back with two wins.
  • Panepinto Hattori scored a victory and sophomore Boxiong Du competed in two bouts.

ROUND 3 - RUTGERS 14 VASSAR 13

• EPEE - RUT 6 VAS 3
  • Weise was victorious twice in round three along with Li tallying a victory.
  • Singh battled in three bouts while Fisher competed once at epee.
• FOIL - VAS 5 RUT 4
  • Ryan posted a 3-0 mark while Traugot and Kim each recorded a victory.
  • Bergel posted three strong bouts for the Brewers.
• SABRE - VAS 5 RUT 4
  • Berger once again went a perfect 3-0 while Panepinto Hattori and Rudnet each added a victory.

ROUND 4 - VASSAR 16 LAFAYETTE 11

• EPEE - VAS 6 LAF 3
  • Li and Weise each scored three victories for the Brewers.
  • Fisher battled in three bouts.
• FOIL - LAF 6 VAS 3
  • Lee led the way with two victories while Kim added one.
  • Ryan fenced in three bouts for Vassar.
• SABRE - VAS 9 LAF 0
  • Berger, Panepinto Hattori and Rudnet all posted 3-0 marks to lead Vassar to a sweep.

ROUND 5 - VASSAR 22 YESHIVA 5

• EPEE - VAS 7 YES 2
  • Li scored an undefeated 3-0 mark while Fisher and Weise each tallied two victories.
  • Singh battled once at epee in round five.
• FOIL - VAS 7 YES 2
  • Traugot posted a perfect 3-0 mark while Bergel added two victories.
  • Lee and Kim each tallied a win of their own.
• SABRE - VAS 8 YES 1
  • Berger and Rudnet each went undefeated at 3-0.
  • Panepinto Hattori won both of his bouts while Du fenced in a bout.

ROUND 6 -  STEVENS 15 VASSAR 12

• EPEE - STEV 6 VC 3
  • Li posted two victories while Weise added a win.
  • Fisher battled in three bouts.
• FOIL - VC 6 STEV 3
  • Lee and Kim both went undefeated at 3-0.
  • Ryan was the third fencer in the bout.
• SABRE - STEV 6 VC 3
  • Berger scored two more victories and Rudnet tallied a win.
  • Panepinto Hattori fenced three times in the bout.

ROUND 7 - NJIT 20 VASSAR 6

• EPEE - NJIT 7 VC 2
  • Li and Weise each tallied a victory while Singh fenced in three bouts.
• FOIL - NJIT 7 VC 2
  • Kim earned two victories as Lee and Traugot each fenced three times.
• SABRE - NJIT 7 VC 2
  • Berger earned both victories in round seven at sabre.
  • Rudnet, Panepinto Hattori and Du all battled against the Highlanders.
