FAIRFIELD, CT - The Vassar College Men's Fencing team battled for the final time this semester at the Tradition Invite at Sacred Heart University on Sunday afternoon. Freshman
Brian Li tallied nine victories at epee for the Brewers.
The Brewers shouldered a tough 4-23 decision in the first round against Harvard as all four wins came at epee with Li winning twice and sophomore
Eli Weise and senior
Jack Plumer each added a victory. Vassar responded with a victory in round two over Sacred Heart 15-12 as epee went 7-2 with Li going 3-0 and Plumer and Weise each winning twice. Foil went 6-3 in the win as freshman
Federico La Rosa went undefeated and clasmmate
Isaiah Kim won twice.
Vassar fell 5-22 in round four against NYU as senior
Conor Travaglione and freshman
Oliver Berger winning once apiece at sabre while Weise and Li added a win each at epee. The Brewers lost 3-24 to Princeton in round five with La Rosa talling a win in foil and Plumer and Li each recording a victory at epee.
Vassar also fell in round six against Penn State 5-22 with Berger winning in sabre, senior
Tom Stadnikov and Weise winning once each in epee and sophomore
Brady Traugot and La Rosa each won in foil. The Brewers dropped the final round 11-16 with the epee and sabre squads winning 5-4 each with Berger winning twice at sabre along with Travaglione and sophomore
Noah Rudnet each win once. Li and Plumer each won twice at epee along with one win by Weise.
The Brewers will return to action following the winter break at the Cleveland State Invite on January 15.
