POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 7, 2018) -- The Vassar College men's volleyball team celebrated its winningest senior class in program history on Saturday, taking both ends of a non-conference tri-match with sweeps of Baruch College and Eastern Mennonite University in action from Kenyon Hall. The Brewers honored their three seniors with two wins, and have now won an astounding 89 matches as part of the Vassar men's volleyball program after Saturday's successes, as VC knocked off Baruch 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 before defeating EMU 25-23, 25-19 and 25-17.Â

The Brewers carried over their strong attacking from their match Friday evening against Messiah, hitting .379 while holding Baruch to .130 hitting for the match.Â
Vassar saw senior
Matthew Knigge post 15 kills on 25 attempts, hitting .560 while posting five service aces and four digs, while fellow senior
Brian Manley hammered down a senior-best nine kills while adding four digs as well. Senior
Zechariah Lee dished out 40 assists in addition to his five kills and six digs, while sophomore
Kevin Ros posted nine kills, four digs and three assisted blocks.Â
Freshman
Garth Verdeflor also picked up 10 digs to lead all players, as Vassar led the match in digs 38-24 and posted a huge 49-22 deficit in the kill column.Â
Vassar 3, Eastern Mennonite 0
Vassar finished off the evening with another three-set win, upping its win straight to 12 matches to finish off the regular season 21-6 thanks to a balanced attack that saw five hitters post five or more kills while Ros and Knigge each had nine to lead the way for Vassar. The difference was VC's blocking, totaling 12 blocks on the night to hold EMU (20-12) to .050 hitting for the night.Â
During the second set, Lee became the first player in program history to post his 200th career service ace, while finishing with 30 assists, six digs and two assisted blocks. Knigge contributed five assisted blocks and one solo rejection as well, while junior
George Diehl had nine digs, five kills and four blocks. Freshman
Ryan Duchemin posted seven terminations and four rejections, and Verdeflor posted seven digs as well for the Brewers.Â

Vassar will now turn its attention to the United Volleyball Conference Tournament, serving as the No. 2 seed playing Saturday at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 3 seed New Paltz and No. 6 Nazareth College at 5 p.m. at Hunter College April 14.Â
