Last Time Out:  After taking two games from Bard College Saturday, the Brewers split Sunday's contests. All four contests were fought hard as the squad found their way on top of a nine-run fourth inning Sunday, before dropping a 4-3 extra-inning dual.

A Look at the Brewers (16-16, 9-8 Liberty League):
  • Senior day was a memorable one, as all six seniors saw time on the field.
  • The Brewers came out swinging, giving them an early edge over their opponents in all four contests with Bard.
  • The squad is lead by freshman Evan Trausch, riding an 8-game hitting streak, the longest posted by a Brewer to date. Also a current team-high streak, Trausch reached base in each of the last 17 games.
  • The 15 runs put up in Game 3 against Bard ties a season high for both runs scored (15) and RBI's (14).
  • Manager Righter has the best bats on the field, as each hitter in the starting lineup is hitting at least .250 on the season.
  • The pitching rotation has found its rhythm, allowing just 11 runs in the last five games.
  • One more win for Erkis would tie the all-time high for career wins, currently held by Chris Beattle (2002-05). Berg is just barely trailing, as one more win would put him in third.
  • A consistent asset to the starting rotation, Erkis is just 7.7 innings pitched from holding a record in that category as well (216.0 IP). Regardless of the remainder of the season, Berg and Erkis' successes will be recorded well in the record books.
  • This game will prepare the team for a final conference series this weekend against St Lawrence. Vassar, RPI, St. Lawrence and Rochester will take on their respective opponents for a spot in the tournament.

A Look at the Valiants (17-18, 10-8 MAC):

  • The Valiants hold a 14-11 edge over the Brewers all time, dating back to their first match-up in 1993.
  • At 10-8, the squad has an excellent shot at post-season MAC tournament action.
  • Last Saturday, sophomore Luke Scoggins blasted a 2-out walk-off homer to lift Manhattanville over Wilkes.
  • The day prior, senior Robbie Lynch hit a memorable one of his own, a two-out two run blast in the ninth, earning the Valiants a 7-6 edge over Wilkes. The slugger has posted six of the Valiants 11 homers this season.
  • Scoggins has been quite the standout in his sophomore campaign, hitting .406 with a .458 obp, while remaining steady on defense with a .990 fielding percentage.
  • On the mound, Manhattanville spreads the duties. 10 pitchers have at least 15 innings of work this season, the bullpen combining for a 6.39 ERA.
  • The squad is working in as many games as possible, also taking on Purchase Wednesday before their final round of regular season conference action this weekend.

Up Next: The Brewers hop on the bus and head upstate to take on the Saints of St. Lawrence in the final conference series of the 2017 season. The first pitches of the double headers are set for 1 PM Saturday and 12 PM Sunday at Tom Fay Field in Canton, NY. These contests will likely determine post-season action for one of the two teams.
