Liam Moriarty paced the pack with five points on four goals and an assist. Eleven of Moriarty's teammates found the back of the net as well, while six dished out at least one assist, giving 15 total Brewers at least one point for the game.
A Look at the Brewers (4-0):
- The Brewers have strung together four straight wins for the first time in program history, beating Drew University, SUNY Oneonta, Swarthmore College and MSMC to open the season.
- VC is averaging 9.75 goals per game, while holding opponents to an average of 4.50. The Brewers are outshooting opponents 151-84 overall and 89-48 in shots-on-goal.
- The Brewers have been generous with the ball, as 27 of their 39 total goals have been assisted. Moriarty, Sam Houston-Read and Michael Mullen account for 67 percent of those assists.
- VC has held the majority of the possession, winning 79 percent of its faceoffs. Matthew Lowery has been a difference-maker, winning 42 of 53 faceoffs so far this season.
- Houston-Read (6g, 6a) and Moriarty (5g, 7a) lead the offensive effort with 12 points apiece.
- Gianni Gelormino and Eric Prezioso anchor the Brewers defensively. Gelormino has picked up 12 ground balls to go along with a team-high five created turnovers. Prezioso has also forced five giveaways to go along with seven ground balls.
- Matthew Boyd and Erik Mikelinich have split time in net. Boyd owns a 3-0 record, making 14 stops for a .636 save percentage, while Mikelinich has a 1-0 mark, fending off 16 goals for a .615 save percentage.
- The Brewers look to build upon their record-setting season, in which they finished 2016 with an 8-8 overall mark. The previous high in wins was six, which had been attained three times before (2015, 2014, 2009).
- This season, the Brewers are captained by Matthew Altman, Brandon DeStasio, Houston-Read and Moriarty.
A Look at the Cardinals (1-1):
- The Cardinals are 1-1 on the young season, falling in their season/conference-opener against No. 15 Bates College 15-14 before thumping Roger Williams 20-6 on Wednesday.
- Before Wesleyan faces Vassar, it will compete against conference foe Hamilton College on Saturday.
- The Cardinals are outshooting opponents 79-74 overall and 50-47 in shots-on-goal. Twenty-six of Wesleyans' 34 goals have been assisted.
- Carter Hawthorn (8g, 7a) and Harry Stanton (6g, 5a) lead the offensive effort, accounting for 55 percent of the Cardinals' total points.
- Jason Gibson and Ryan Lynch have been the primary faceoff specialists for Wesleyan. Gibson has won 16-of-27 for a 59.3 success rate, while Lynch has won 12-of-22 for a 59.1 success rate. Both have picked up eight ground balls on the season.
- Andres Rodriguez and Jake Cresta have been solid for the Cardinals on the defensive end, with Rodriguez forcing five turnovers and mustering five ground balls, and Cresta coercing four and collecting four.
- Ted Bergman has been the primary goalkeeper for Wesleyan, starting both games and playing a total of 95:28. The keeper has fended away 20 shots for a .526 saves percentage.
- The Cardinals look to build off of their 2016 season, in which they finished 10-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Last season, they fell in the NESCAC Quarterfinals to Bowdoin College.
- Wesleyan is captained by Bergman, Cory Ekstrom, Quinn Mendelson and Harry Stanton.
Against Wesleyan All-Time: The Brewers fell 13-8 to the Cardinals last season in their only meeting in program history.
A Look at the Seahawks (4-1):
- The Seahawks saw a four-game winning streak snap with a 9-7 loss to Mount Ida on Wednesday. Previously, Salve Regina had beaten Emmanuel, Clark University, Wheaton and Maritime (NY).
- Before the Seahawks face the Brewers, they'll take on Berry at the University of Tampa on Sunday.
- The Seahawks have outshot opponents 177-154 overall and 106-99 in shots-on-goal. Of Salve Regina's 43 total goals, 24 have been assisted.
- Nick LoCiero has been dominant on offense, pacing the team with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists. Next in line as far as points-leaders are Eric Backus (5g, 4a) and Zach Makoske (8g, 1a), who have registered nine points apiece. Backus and Makoska have both tallied two man-up goals.
- Jake Gonzalez has been the primary faceoff specialist, winning 31 of 59 attempts for a 52.5 success rate. He's also third on the team in ground balls with 14.
- Mike Sheehan and Mike Mongelli have dominated defensively. Sheehan has picked up a team-leading 18 ground balls to go along with seven created turnovers, while Mongelli has notched 16 and eight, respectively.
- Matt D'Amore owns a 4-1 record, having played all but 19 seconds this season. The keeper has made 68 stops for a .694 saves percentage.
- The Seahawks look to improve upon their 2016 campaign, in which they finished 11-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play. In the CCC Quarterfinals, Salve Regina was edged by the University of New England, 14-13.
- Gonzalez, LoCicero and Sheehan captain this season's squad.
Against Salve Regina All-Time: This will mark the first meeting between the Brewers and Seahawks.
