Last Time Out: The Brewers dropped an 8-1 decision to The College of New Jersey their last time on the courts, but it could have gone either way as Vassar fell in four singles matches in three sets. The lone win came from Alexander Luckmann and Juan Felipe Laso at No. 1 doubles.

A Look At The Brewers:

  • Vassar is 5-3 on the season, but all three losses have come to teams ranked inside the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations (ITA) National Top 40.
  • Senior No. 1 player Nick Litsky still leads the squad in total wins in 2016-17, as the Florida native is 8-4 in singles action this season. Litsky is ranked in the Top 20 regionally.
  • Fellow senior Juan Felipe Laso is coming off a tight loss last time out but was honored, along with Luckmann, as the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week.
  • Freshman Allen Sokolov recently earned a spot on the Maccabi USA Open Tennis squad for this summer's Maccabi Games in Isreal.
  • Vassar has mixed up its pairings this season, as 10 total teams have played together since the fall. Sophomore Jamie Anderson and Laso have gone 3-1, the best record of any twosome.
  • VC has dominated conference action thus far, going 18-6 in singles and 9-3 in doubles play.
  • Sophomore Nick Lee and freshman Zamir Birnbach are currently the only players on the team with a winning streak headed to California. Lee is 3-0 on the season, while Birnbach is 2-0.
  • Vassar currently sits in third place in the Liberty League with a 2-1 mark, while Skidmore is leading the way at 3-0.

A Look At The Week's Competition:

  • Trinity College comes into the weekend ranked No. 31 in the nation according to ITA.
  • The Bantams are coming off a 5-4 win over Coast Guard back in October, but the match with VC will be Trinity's first of the spring.
  • Trinity is led by captain Rutendo Matingo, who is 29-29 for his career with the Bantams.
  • Case Western Reserve is 6-2 on the season, earning a ranking of No. 10 in the ITA National Rankings.
  • Case Western is led by Sam Concannon, who is 10-4 on the season, while Anthony Kanam is also 10-3 and 4-0 in dual matches.
  • James Fojtasek has posted a 44-24 mark in his career, and holds the No. 1 position for the Spartans normally.
  • Whitter comes into the match having picked up its first win of the season over Cal Lutheran on March 4, 6-3.
  • The Poets will play five matches before taking on Vassar on March 15. Senior Andrew You will team with Thomas Koszowski at the No. 1 position in doubles for WC.
  • Wooster is 4-6 on the season overall, but Titas Bera has been a strong No. 1 for the Scots, going 9-5 overall and 4-1 in tournament action.
  • Jack Buchan has served as the main No. 2 player for the Scots, going 4-6 in dual matches.
  • Buchan and Davis Elkins have been strong in doubles, earning 11 of the team's 23 doubles victories this season.
  • Chapman is 0-3 on the season, and coming off an 8-1 loss to Christopher Newport last week.
  • Josh Sarsfield and Charlie Weman have been strong at doubles, earning all five of the team's five doubles victories this season.
  • Werman has played No. 1 for Chapman, while Sarsfield and Len Kamemoto have been the two options at No. 2.
  • Singles has plagued the Panthers, winning only six of their 22 matches in singles play this season.
  • Caltech won its first match of the season on February 19 against Cal Lutheran, but has dropped three straight with 8-1 score lines.
  • The Beavers have been strong at No. 1 this year, as Ruthwick Pathireddy has gone 3-1 overall at the top spot.
