Last Time Out:  Liam Moriarty powered Vassar to a 12-3 win over Salve Regina (4-3) in Tampa, FL on Friday. The senior middie tied his career-high with six points on a goal and five assists. Eleven different Brewers tallied at least one point, with eight finding the back of the net and five dishing out a helper.

A Look at the Brewers (5-1):
  • The Brewers strung together four straight wins for the first time in program history, beating Drew University, SUNY Oneonta, Swarthmore College and Mount Saint Mary College to open the season.
  • VC's 5-1 record is the best start in program history. The Brewers have now notched five wins nine times in the program's 30-year existence.
  • In Vassar's most recent outing, a 12-3 win over Salve Regina, Moriarty led the squad with six points. Chris Billups (2g, 1a) finished with three points, while Sam Houston-Read (2g), Michael Mullen (2g), James Thomas (2g) and Matthew Lowery (2a) all added a pair of points.
  • Moriarty landed on the Liberty League Honor Roll on Monday for his performances this past week. The full release can be read here.
  • Moriarty (6g, 13a), Houston-Read (8g, 6a) and Mullen (7g, 5a) have all reached double figures in the points column to lead the Brewer offense.
  • VC has held the majority of the possession, winning 67 percent of its faceoffs. Lowery has been a difference-maker, winning 52 of 75 faceoffs so far this season.
  • Eric Prezioso and Gianni Gelormino have been solid on defense. Prezioso has forced a team-best nine turnovers and has grabbed 11 ground balls, while Gelormino has coerced seven turnovers and has picked up 17 ground balls.
  • Matthew Boyd and Erik Mikelinich have split time in net. Boyd owns a 4-1 record, making 35 stops for a .700 save percentage, while Mikelinich has a 1-0 mark, fending off 20 goals for a .541 save percentage.
  • The Brewers look to build upon their record-setting season, in which they finished 2016 with an 8-8 overall mark. The previous high in wins was six, which had been attained three times before (2015, 2014, 2009).

A Look at the Mules (1-3):
  • The Mules are 1-3 on the young season with a win over Trinity and losses to Hamilton, University of New England and most recently Tufts.
  • In Colby's 10-7 loss to Tufts on Saturday, the Mules surrendered seven scores to the Jumbos in the first quarter before outscoring them 7-3 the rest of the way. Austin Sayre led Colby with a hat trick.
  • Eleven of Colby's 23 total goals have been assisted.
  • The Mules have been outshot by opponents 110-98 overall and 60-57 in shots-on-goal.
  • Tucker Diertrick leads the Mules with 10 points on five goals and five assists, while Sayre has accumulated nine points on nine goals.
  • Sayre has also been the ground ball leader, picking up eight on the season. Kevin Seiler has grabbed seven while also forcing a turnover.
  • Cillian Connor leads Colby with two man-up goals. He has three total goals as well as an assist on the young season.
  • CJ Layton has been the only keeper to see time in net, owning a 1-3 record with 57 saves and 32 goals allowed.
  • Mike Logan has been Colby's primary faceoff specialist, winning 28 of 64 attempts. Matt Sindler has also seen time at the faceoff, winning one of 11 attempts.

Against Colby All-Time: This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.

Next Up: Vassar opens conference play at Skidmore College on Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m.
