Last Time Out
Vassar is coming off an 11-7 comeback win against Swarthmore College on Saturday. The Brewers went into the locker room at halftime down 6-3 to the Garnet. Senior Noah Parson scored his first goal of the game, which started an eight-goal scoring streak before Swarthmore netted one lone goal in the second half with 34 seconds to play. Sam Houston-Read led the Brewers with three goals, while Liam Moriarty, Chris Billups and freshman Patrick Gibbons all scored two apiece. Junior goalkeeper Brandon Crecco posted 10 saves in the win. Juniors Eric Prezioso and Brandon Klein led the defensive effort, combining for six ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

A Look at the Conn College Camels (0-1, 0-1 NESCAC)
The Camels lost to No. 5 Middlebury College 5-4 this past Saturday in their season opener. Senior goalkeeper Bobby Bleisten made 12 saves in the cage, but the low scoring offense was not enough to earn the win. After a scoreless first quarter, junior Ross Thompson scored the first goal of the game with 13:10 left in the second quarter. Sophomore Tucker Mscisz finished the game with a team-high two goals. Senior Derek Bertolini posted a game-high 11 shots, with three of them on goal.

Last season the Camels finished with a 4-11 record, earning only two wins in the NESCAC. In 2015, they faced common Liberty League opponent, RPI, and took a 17-3 loss. The 2015 Vassar men's team faced RPI in their Liberty League home opener and earned a 9-8 loss to the then No. 18 team in the nation.

Despite the final results, returning goalkeeper Bobby Bleisten has been a stand out in the cage. Last season, he saved 59.2 percent of shots faced. He posted double-digit saves in all but two games and had two games with over 20 saves, including a season-high 24 saves in a conference loss to Colby College. On the offensive end, Thompson led his team in assists (20) and was tied for first in total points (41) in his sophomore season. Current sophomore Ben Parens was the face-off specialist last season. Taking all but 24 face-offs, Parens accumulated a 195-313 record in 14 games.

New Opponents
This marks the first meeting between Vassar and Connecticut College. Vassar has been looking to increase the strength of its non-conference schedule to prepare for its often-nationally ranked Liberty League rivals. This season, Vassar has three regular season games against NESCAC opponents, in addition to facing Trinity College (CT) in its preseason scrimmage. Vassar will face Wesleyan University next week over spring break and Williams College on April 20.

All-Time Leader
Senior captain Noah Parson became the all-time leading scorer for the Vassar men's lacrosse team when he scored the 92nd goal of his career on Saturday. Parson's seventh goal of the season pushed him past former teammate Max Herman (class of 2014) in the record books. Parson is now only six points away from becoming the all-time leader in career points, which is currently held by Herman, who has 135 total points.

Unstoppable Billups
Junior attackman Chris Billups has seven goals on just nine shots, which is good for a 77.8 shooting percentage. He has also scored both game winners for the Brewers, and added four assists so far this year.

Unselfish Play
Twenty-six of the Brewers' 37 total goals this season have been assisted. Ten different players have added assists so far this season. Moriarty leads the team with six helpers, while both Billups and Houston-Read have added four.

Career Firsts
Freshman attacker Pat Gibbons scored his first and second goals of the season on Saturday. Fellow rookie Drew Adams also netted his first goal in the win, and has earned points in every contest so far. Freshman Robert Nisbet went 1-1 on the first face-off of his college career.

Rookie of the Week
The Liberty League named Pat Gibbons the Rookie of the Week on Monday after his breakthrough performance in Vassar's 11-7 victory over Swarthmore College on Saturday. The first-year attack scored his first two goals of the season on three shots, while also collecting a pair of ground balls and an assist. His second goal of the day capped an 8-0 run by the Brewers in their comeback win.

Hat Trickster
Sam Houston-Read also garnered attention on Saturday after scoring a hat trick in Vassar College's 11-7 comeback win over Swarthmore. His first goal got the Brewers within one, 6-5, his second gave them the lead, 7-6, and his third gave them some breathing room, 9-6. The junior attack now has six goals on the season to go along with four assists and three ground balls.

Up Next
The Vassar men's lacrosse team will host NESCAC opponent Wesleyan University at Weinberg Field on Tuesday March 15 at 2 p.m. during the first week of spring break.
