What To Look For
The Brewers (5-13, 3-7 Liberty) are coming off a successful 2-1 week, in which they beat Bard College 71-59 and St. Lawrence University 76-60, but fell to Clarkson University in a close 57-55 loss. Most recently, the Brewers were brilliant in Saturday's win over SLU. After taking a five-point deficit into the break, the women exploded for a 23-point third quarter to take and keep the lead. Vassar outscored SLU, 23-7, in the third. The Saints got within nine points with 50 seconds remaining in the period, but that was the last time they would trail by single digits. Ariella Rosenthal (Mill Valley, CA/Redwood) paced the Brewers with 20 points, while Caitlin Drakeley (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) added 15 and Rose Serafini (Milton, ON, CAN/Milton District) finished with 10. Serafini swatted five shots, as she became the Brewers' all-time shot block leader. Mount Saint Mary has been enjoying its most successful stretch of the season, having won its past three games.

A Look At The Mount Saint Mary College (NY) Knights (9-10, 7-5 Skyline)
The Knights ride a three-game win streak into Tuesday's game. Mount Saint Mary beat Purchase College 70-44, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) 81-53, and most recently, Yeshiva University (at Baruch College) 59-26 on the road Sunday. Janae Graham scored a career-high 19 points, while Kayla Cleare grabbed a career-best 17 boards to lead the Knights in a convincing win. Mount Saint Mary shot 44 percent from the floor and turned 17 offensive rebounds into 17 second-chance points, while forcing 18 turnovers and holding Yeshiva to 14 percent shooting.
Jessica Rini is the only Knight to average double figures at 12.4 points per game. The sophomore also leads the team in steals (32). Cleare holds the Knights down defensively, as she leads the team with 36 total blocks and 10.1 rebounds per game. The Knights average 56.2 points per game, while holding their opponents to 51.8. Mount Saint Mary shoots 35 percent from the floor and 22 percent from deep, but it out-rebounds its opponents by an average of 51-39. The Knights don't seem to be phased by the venue, as they are 4-5 at home and 4-5 on the road.

Against Mount Saint Mary All-Time
Vassar is 6-18 versus Mount Saint Mary since their first meeting in 1988. Most recently, the Brewers bested the Knights, 69-59, on the road Dec. 2, 2014. Caitlin Drakeley poured in 23 points to go with her 12 boards to lead the Brewers. Prior to that December meeting, the teams hadn't played since the 2005.

Shot Swatter
After finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in Sunday's 76-60 victory over St. Lawrence, Rose Serafini added to her eventful day by making history. The senior became the Vassar College women's basketball team's all-time shot block leader, as her third swat of the day gave her 168 for her career. That eclipsed the 167 that Emily Haueser tallied in her career.

Anchor
Rose Serafini has been holding down the Brewers defensively. The senior ranks first in the Liberty League with 3.2 blocks and seventh with 7.8 rebounds per game. The next leading shot blocker is RPI's Shaina Iton, who averages two per contest.

Block Party
Vassar has shown excellent anticipation, as it leads the conference with 81 blocked shots (4.5 per contest). Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is next best, averaging 4.17 blocks per game.

Terrific Teta
Nicole Teta (Maspeth, NY/Archbishop Molloy) dazzled in the Brewers' 2-1 week to average 15.7 points. The freshman shot 47 percent from the floor and 56 percent from deep (10-of-18), while collecting nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. In Tuesday's 71-59 win over Bard, Teta poured in a game- and career-high 23 points with four triples in 22 minutes off the bench. That 23-point effort more than doubled her previous best of 11. The guard followed up her stellar performance by dropping 11 points on Clarkson and 13 on St. Lawrence over the weekend.

Dynamic Duo
Vassar boasts two scorers within the Top 10 in the Liberty League. Ariella Rosenthal (14.9 points per game) and Caitlin Drakeley (12.5) rank eighth and tenth, respectively. Drakeley and Rosenthal are also sixth and seventh, respectively, shooting 40.9 and 39.4 percent from the floor.

Over The Moon
Alex Moon (Mission Hills, CA/Bishop Alemany) has been playing unselfishly, dishing out 3.8 assists per game, which is good for fourth-best in the conference. Not only that, but she has also been taking care of the ball to rank fifth in the League with her 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio — which surely puts her teammates over the moon.

Hack-A-Who?
The Brewers are second best in the Liberty League with their 72.1 percent shooting from the foul line. Only the St. Lawrence Saints edge them, as they shoot 72.1 percent. With that said, Vassar opponents shoot the best at 70.4 percent.

Need A Hand?
Vassar has dished out more assists than its opponents in four of the past five games. In those four games, the Brewers out-assisted their opponents by a margin of 67-45.

So Close
The Brewers have kept many of their competitions close this season, losing 11 games by seven points or less.

Scoring 70
Vassar has won all three times it has scored at least 70 points, most recently beating St. Lawrence 76-60 on Sunday.

Up Next
The Vassar College women's basketball team will conclude its five-game homestead with two games over the weekend. The Brewers will play the William Smith College Herons on Friday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. and Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
