Greenwood, IN – The Vassar College Women's Basketball program had four student-athletes recognized for their work both on the court and in the classroom with College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Ava Gurley (Austin, TX),
Sophia Ippolito (Cumberland Center, ME),
Erin Lovett (Norwalk, CT) and
Sierra McDermed (San Antonio, TX) have all be recognized for athletic and academic excellence.
McDermed, a Physics and Applied Mathematics major, earns Academic All-District honors for the third straight year and was named First Team All-Liberty League for the third time in 2025-26. McDermed led the Brewers with 12.6 points per game as a senior and played a team-high 33.7 minutes per night.
McDermed reached double-figures in scoring 18 times for the Brewers and wrapped up the season shooting just shy of 43-percent from the floor while adding nearly six rebounds and just over two assists per night. McDermed closed out the year leading the conference in minutes per game and ranked fourth in scoring.
Gurley, an International Studies and Chines major, lands on the Academic All-District team for the first time as a senior after setting career marks in games played (26) and rebounds per game (2.1). Gurley scored a season-high five points against William Smith and hauled in a career-high 12 rebounds against the Herons on December 6.
Ippolito, a junior Psychology major, appeared in 26 games for Vassar and made 21 starts. Ippolito was good for 5.0 points per game and converted at an efficient 81.1-percent from the free-throw line. Ippolito scored in double-figures four times in 2025-26, including a season-high 13 points twice.
Lovett, a Biology major, saw time in 24 games as a sophomore and was good for 5.5 points and just under four rebounds per contest. Lovett converted at 76.2-percent from the free-throw line in 63 attempts and scored in double-figures four times, including a career-high 15 points against Skidmore on January 20.
Vassar concluded the 2025-26 season with a 12-14 overall record and appeared in the Liberty League Championship for the eighth straight season.
