What To Look ForOn two occasions this season, Vassar College has put together three-game win streaks only to fall short of extending that streak to four games. The Brewers return home after two games away from Weinberg Field and will be looking to extend their home winning streak to 14 games. Vassar College will want a strong start in Liberty League action, as the conference looks to once again be very strong from top to bottom.
A Look At The Saints (2-4, 0-0 Liberty League)St. Lawrence University started the season strong with a 6-2 win over Morrisville State College, but since then the Saints have hit a bump in the road, falling in four of their last five contests. Last weekend, SLU traveled to William Smith College to take part in a four-team tournament, falling to both Lebanon Valley College 4-0 and Manhattanville College 3-2. SLU comes into the game this weekend struggling to hold teams off the board, allowing 3.08 goals per game, placing them seventh in the Liberty League in that regard and 123
rd out of the 164 teams in the NCAA. St. Lawrence is sixth in goals scored league-wide with 17, but does draw penalty corners better than any other squad in the conference.
Samantha Haab and Kara Pelosi have paced the attack for the Saints thus far this season, as each have scored four times to go with one assist. Bailey Sherwin has added three tallies, while Molly Wood has also netted a pair of goals for the Saints. Carly Dziekan has led the defensive effort for St. Lawrence, making two defensive saves while starting all six games for the Saints in the back. Between the pipes, Kim Haab has made 47 saves so far into the season, allowing 17 goals while playing 397 minutes. St. Lawrence head coach Fran Grembowicz is in her 18
th season with the Saints, posting nine double-digit win campaigns.
Against St. Lawrence All-TimeSince the two teams started playing each other back in 2000, St. Lawrence has won 15 of the 17 games played between these two schools. However, Vassar has won the last two games on Weinberg Field, which is where Saturday's contest will be played.
Equal OpportunityThe Brewers have had 11 players tally a goal so far this season, which is the most in a season for a Vassar team since the 2012 squad saw 14 players find the back of the net.
Quick StartersSince head coach
Michael Warari's appointment in the summer of 2013, the Brewers have combined to go 17-7 over the first eight games of his three seasons at VC. Over the last two years, VC is 13-3 over that span.
Save ShowAgainst Montclair State University, freshman keeper
Paige Amico (Carlsbad, CA/La Costa Canyon) made a career-high eight saves.
In The CornerThrough eight games this season, Vassar has earned more corners than its opponent in all but one contest, VC's 1-0 loss at Kean University September 9.
Nothing AgainstDespite Wednesday's game at Montclair State University, the Brewers still have allowed the second-fewest goals in the Liberty League this year with just six goals against through eight games.
Shot CallerFreshman
Megan Caveny (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) is currently fifth in the conference in shots per game; taking 4.75 attempts at goal a contest.
Up NextVassar College will travel to Hartwick College Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. to take on the Hawks in Oneonta, NY in non-conference play.
