Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 15, 2015) – No. 19 Williams College outscored Vassar 12-5 in the second half, led by five goals from senior Andy Grabowski, as the Ephs earned a 17-11 victory Wednesday afternoon. Despite leading 6-5 at half, the Brewers could not keep up with the Williams scoring burst in the third and fourth quarters as VC drops to 6-7 on the year. Williams improves to 8-4 snapping a four-game losing streak with the win.
Vassar was led offensively by senior Sean Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and junior Liam Moriarty (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield), who both finished with four points on two goals and two assists a piece. Freshman goalkeeper Erik Mikelinich (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills HS West) finished with 10 saves, while sophomore Austin Haymes (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/William T Dwyer) tallied a game-high three caused turnovers.
After Williams struck first in the opening minutes, Vassar took its first lead on consecutive goals from Moriarty and sophomore Chris Billups (Watchung, NJ/Oratory Preparatory) to go up 2-1 at the 11:11 mark in the first quarter.
The teams then traded goals back and forth, before the Ephs got a pair of back-to-back strikes from Eric Kelley and Riley Hoffman to get ahead 4-3 with 13:08 to go in the second quarter.
VC responded with its longest run of the game sparked by freshman Alex Georgalas (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa), who buried a shot bottom right in transition for his first career goal. With the game tied 4-4, the Brewers regained the lead on a goal from the right wing by Brazier at the 8:50 mark. Vassar extended its advantage with 1:17 to play in the half, as junior Noah Parson (Cary, NC/Panther Creek) netted an underhand shot off a dish from Brazier to go up 6-4.
Williams had the last say in the half, as Tanner MacIvor cut the Brewers lead to 6-5 on a goal with under a minute to play. The Brewers carried the one goal lead into the break, outshooting the Ephs 22-19 while committing four less turnovers.
Williams made its move at the start of the second half, rattling off five straight goals to jump ahead of Vassar 10-6 by the 9:40 mark in the third quarter. The Brewers hung around, netting three of the next four goals scored to pull within two by the start of the fourth quarter.
The Ephs never waivered down the stretch, outscoring Vassar 6-2 in the final 15 minutes of play to secure the six-goal victory. Williams finished with a 18-13 advantage in faceoffs, while Dan Whittam made eight saves to earn his eighth win of the year in the cage for Williams.
Vassar will return to action this Saturday, April 18 at 12 pm to face No. 11 Union College at Gordon Field. The Vassar men's lacrosse team will honor its four seniors (Scott Brekne, Sean Brazier, Dylan Staub and Jesse Hartman) for senior day in their final home game as Brewers.

Junior Noah Parson is now tied for fourth all-time in program history in career points (112) with Kevin Kreiser ('00) after recording three against Williams.
Parson is now tied for third all-time for goals in a season at Vassar after scoring two against Williams. Parson now has 29 goals on the year tying him with Kevin Kreiser ('00) and Max Herman ('14) on the all-time season list.
