POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 17, 2015) – The Vassar College women's basketball team will try to put its season-opening loss to No. 12 Montclair State University behind them this weekend, as the Brewers play host to the VC Tip-Off Tournament in the Athletics and Fitness Center Friday and Saturday.
Vassar will take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent Friday night at 6 p.m., followed by Medaille College and Haverford College at 8 p.m. The following day, the consolation game of the tournament will be played at 1 p.m., with the title contest scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip between the previous day's winners.

A Look At The Brewers (0-1)- Vassar is coming off a 67-40 season-opening loss to No. 12 Montclair State University. Sophomore
Ariella Rosenthal (Mill Valley, CA/Redwood) led VC with 10 points.
- Monday marked the second consecutive season VC has dropped the opener, which hasn't happened since the 1996-97 and 1997-98 years.

Samarah Cook (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) scored eight points Monday, playing 30 minutes.
- Senior forward
Rose Serafini (Milton, Ontario, Canada/Milton Area) led the Brewers with 11 rebounds Monday, scoring six points and blocking three shots.
- Vassar shot 27.8 percent from the floor on Monday, which was the lowest percentage in a game since January 6, 2012, when VC fell to Skidmore after shooting 27.3 percent on field goals.
- VC has just one player back from last year that started in all 25 games, in leading scorer
Caitlin Drakeley (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) who poured in 17.5 points per game as a junior.
- The Brewers shot 66.7 percent from the line on Monday, 12 points below their rate in 2014-15. Forwards Serafini and
Sabrina Ulsh (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) made all four of their freebies, but three guards combined to go 4-of-8.
- Everyone on the team grabbed at least one rebound in Monday night's loss to Montclair State.

Candice Brown enters this weekend with a 99-61 record with the Brewers all-time.
A Look At The Fords (1-1)- Haverford started the season with a road win at Immaculata University 66-46, followed by a 47-43 loss at Elizabethtown Sunday.
- Haverford has four players currently averaging double figures, led by the 12 points from Sierra Berkel.
- Samantha Wetzel is grabbing eight rebounds a game to lead the way for Haverford, averaging 10 points per game. She has also made 10-of-14 (71.4%) from the field.
- The Fords are shooting a solid 40.9 percent from the floor thus far this season, holding teams to 31.6 percent on field goal attempts.
- Haverford has outscored its opponents in all but the fourth quarter this season, as opposition holds a 31-26 lead in in scoring in the fourth.
- Haverford is coming off a 2014-15 season that saw it go 16-11, making the Centennial Conference Semifinals before having its season come to a close.
- Head coach Bobbi Morgan has gone 95-83 at the helm of Haverford, including posting a 24-4 campaign two seasons ago that ended in a trip to the NCAA Tournament second round.
A Look At The Mavericks (0-0)- Medaille College opens its 2015-16 slate Tuesday night at Buffalo State before coming to town this weekend.
- The Mavericks will look to improve on their 10-16 season from a year ago, going 9-9 in the AMCC.
- Medaille has earned five NCAA Tournament berths over the last 11 seasons, winning three games in the Tournament.
- MC returns six players that played in 11 or more games in 2014-15, led by junior point guard Taina Graham. Graham made 24 starts, averaging 4.3 assists per game.
- Sophomore guard MarceAnn Dunning was third in scoring for the Mavs last year, pouring in 13.7 points per game while knocking down 47 three-pointers.
- Junior Lauren Jensen also was a three-point threat for Medaille last year, making 36 of her 114 shots from deep, averaging 10.0 points a night.
- Medaille lost its top two scorers and rebounders, Alicia Montalvo and Morgan Howe, to graduation last year, and with them a combined game average of 28.6 points and 18.2 rebounds. The Mavericks will have to work hard to make up for it.
- Head coach Rachelle Matthys is entering her second season as the head coach as the Mavericks.
A Look At The Dolphins (0-2)- Mount Saint Vincent started its season down in the Commonwealth of Virginia, falling to Ferrum College (55-52) and Randolph-Macon College (72-67) this weekend in Ashland, VA.
- The Dolphins will rely heavily on the play from guard Christina Barone, who is posting 19.5 points per game thus far, knocking down 6-of-9 from three-point land. She also leads the team in rebounding (5.0) and assists (4.5) per game.
- CMSV has six players who are averaging six or more points per game, including Nicole Oliver, who has started both contests thus far for the Dolphins.
- Mount St. Vincent shoots the ball well from the line, making 77.8 percent of its free throw attempts.
- The Dolphins have struggled to grab rebounds in the early going of the season, being out-boarded on average by nine caroms a game.
- Alexandra Gundermann pulled in a team-best eight rebounds in the five-point loss to Randolph-Macon, all on the defensive end of the court.
- CMSV won the Skyline Conference last season, and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament thanks to an impressive 22-6 record. The Dolphins lost to Ithaca College in the Tournament's first round 82-72.
