POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 1, 2014) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team has two games this week with a home meeting on Wednesday, and then a Liberty League Saturday at St. Lawrence. They will first take on soon-to-be League opponents Bard College.

Scott Brekne (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville),
Colin Cederna (Milan, MI/Saline) and
Brandon DeStasio (West Hempstead, NY/Chaminade). The Thoroughbreds made a third quarter comeback with a 3-1 run, bringing the Brewer lead to 6-4, but Vassar piled on four goals in the fourth to secure the win.
Senior
Andrew Nicol (Carmel, NY/Brewster) had the greatest margin between saves and goals allowed all season, stopping 10 shots and allowing only five goals against Skidmore. He is 4-4 on the season with a total of 70 saves and has allowed 79 goals from 244 shots.
17 of Vassar's 30-player roster have earned points for the team this season. Herman leads with 32 points from 20 goals and 12 assists. Sophomore
Noah Parson follows just one point behind with 19 goals and 12 helpers. Cederna and Brekne both have over 20 points this season with stats of 23 and 20, respectively.
A Look At The RaptorsBard lost its first two games of the year during its spring trip with the more recent loss being handed to them by Ferrum College, 9-8. Goalie John Henry Glascock had a big performance with 20 saves from 51 shots. Mat Livermore recorded four points from three goals and an assist. Sam Funnell had two goals from two shots and the team-high four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
DJ Peters leads the Raptors with 26 points from 18 goals and eight assists. Livermore also has scored 18 times, but has helped on six others for the second-best in points this season with 24. Funnell has a commanding lead on Bard's defensive end of play with 34 ground balls. Harrison Mauldin is the next closest Raptor with 20, but has the team's most caused turnovers with 11. Glascock has stopped 91 shots in goal this season and only allowed 40 to slip by after facing 202 shots.
Against Bard All-TimeDespite the Brewers and Raptors being Hudson Valley foes, these two teams have never met. Bard is still a young team with this being their first season since 2010. The Raptors will join the Liberty League next year.
Nation's Top 100Three Brewers are ranked in the Top 100 in the nation in four separate categories. Herman is leading the way with points per game (#50), goals per game (#85) and assists per game (#92). Parson is behind him in all three categories except assists. Both are tied at #92. Cederna is #41 in the country in terms of shot percentage.
Lending A Helping PassThe Brewers are #11 in the nation averaging 8.88 assists per game. They are tied with Aurora and are behind such schools as Ohio Wesleyan, Denison and Carthage as well as the top team in the country and Liberty League opponent, Rochester Institute of Technology.
Already A Solid Senior Year With More To ComeHerman has had a senior year that most graduating college student-athletes wish for. He now stands as the career points leader in Vassar history with a current tally of 119 points. The record stood at 103 going into Vassar's 21-5 win over SUNY Cobleskill. Along with his Top 100 national rankings, Herman is second in the Liberty League in points per game, fourth in shots and goals per game and eighth in assists per game.

Shane Flattery (Brewster, NY/Brewster) both went to the same high school, but freshman goalie
Brandon Crecco (Carmel, NY/Mahopac) and Nicol are from the same town. Freshmen
Matthew Altman (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) and
Liam Moriarty (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) went to the same school and lived in the same town as well as the junior duo of
Sean Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and Brekne.
Last year's senior
Ryan McCarthy (Morrisville, NC/Panther Creek) and Parson were from the same school as well.
