A Look at the Sacred Heart University Pioneers
The pioneers boast a large team, with 24 men and 15 women, and are a force to reckon with after beating the Brewers in November, 17-10. A fencer to look out for on the men's team is junior epee fencer Devon Clark who won 6-4 January 25
th at the Philadelphia invitational. Women's fencing will contend with sophomore Mia Volpe, also on epee, who dominated 16-2 in November at the NFC opening day.
A Look at the UNH Wildcats
The University of New Hampshire fencing team is a club team, and has only attended three other meets this season. The women's team should watch out for junior epee fencer Azaline Dunlap-Smith, who won a first place title at "The Big One 2013."
A Look at the Dartmouth College Big Green
Also a club sport, the Dartmouth College men's and women's fencing teams have attended two meets this season, and freshman foilist Phoebe Liang won second place at her event at the "Big One."
A Look at the BU Terriers
Yet another club team, the BU fencing team is still very large, including 43 members.
A Look at the Wellesley Blue
The Wellesley fencing team has had a busy season so far, attending six meets. Their best showing was at the Vassar Invitational, where they came away 5-3. Leading the pack was freshman foilist Jessica Guo at 20-4.
A Look at the UMass Minutemen/Minutewomen
UMass's fencing teams are also club teams. Most successful among the squads are women's epee and men's sabre.
Snowed In
The Brewers will be eager for the matches after missing games against New York University and Columbia University of February 5 due to the winter storm.
Contending Away From Home
The Brewers will be traveling a considerable distance to New Hampshire to participate, putting them in their most challenging position. The Brewer's record is roughest at away games, at 2-4, compared to 13-11 at home.
SHU Rematch
The men's team will be hungry for a win after having faced Sacred Heart University at home in November, losing 10-17.
Epee Domination
Epee is the highest-scoring squad in both the men's and women's teams, with the Lady Brewers boasting a 162-114 record and men's carrying a 140-127 score.
Men's Fencers on Winning Streak Across Classes
Both rookie Brewers and veteran fencers on the men's team have consistent success in their last games, with freshman epee fencer
Jackson Dammann (Chappaqua, NY/Horace Greeley) winning his last two matches against Yale and Drew for a 3-1 record for the day, and senior co-captain
John Arden (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) on sabre leaving with a day total of 4-1.
Another Freshman Star for Women's
The women's team boasts several powerhouse rookies, including freshman
Elsa Stoff (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional) who holds an impressive record of 70-26 on foil.
