A Look at the University Of Mary Washington Eagles
The Eagles have soared this season, going undefeated so far in all three matches against Bridgewater, Methodist, and Stevens, and in each of their first two matches not dropping a single game.  The Brewers should especially watch out for freshman Scott Buie in singles action after he dominated Bridgewater College's Mike Cable in only two games, as well as preparing for nationally ranked #36 Tyler Carey, a junior. In doubles, UMW's  Brandon Griffin (a freshman) and Sratton Gilmore (a sophomore) make a deadly combination. The pair have just come off an 8-3 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology, and will be supporting their fellow eagles as they fight for their perfect record. The Brewers have a 1-2 all time record against UMW,

A Look at the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops
So far this season the Bishops have only competed in tournaments and will be hoping to score wins to replace the zeroes in their record. In October at the Elon University Fall Invitational, the Bishops struggled to keep up in singles, falling 13 times and winning only 5 times.  A possible contending force in doubles, however, is sophomore Mikhail Konnov, who helped bring his team to a 8-5 win over Georgia Southern University. Also a danger to the Brewers is senior team captain Robert Kjellberg, who is ranked #16 nationally, especially in light of the Brewer's 0-2 all time record against the college.

A Look at the Denison University Big Red
It's been a mixed season so far for the Denison University men's tennis team, evidenced by their 1-1 record. Even their win was tight at 5-4 against Allegheny College on February 15.  Players to look out for include freshman Ryan Bilbo in singles, who carries a 7-2 record for this season, and senior Andrew Marczak, who with a record of 8-4 has played the most games of his team all season.  While Denison's doubles teams have a lower win percentage, fans can expect a lot from the team of junior Casey Cempre and Marczak, who have an 8-2 record as a team. The Brewers have an 0-1 all-time score against Denison.

Battling to stay Undefeated
Three out of the four colleges competing on Saturday and Sunday have been undefeated in their season so far: North Carolina Wesleyan, University of Mary Washington, and the Vassar Brewers.  It's impossible for every team to maintain their perfect record and each will be fighting tooth and nail to cling to that 1.0 win percentage for as long as possible.

Most Experienced
The Brewers have won the most games of any teams competing at the University of Mary Washington Invitational, 4 games to UMW's 3 and Denison's 1.

Freshman Power
The Brewer's freshman men have shone so far this season, including Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep), whose 4-2 record makes him the team member to play the most singles matches this season. Fellow freshman Juan Felipe Laso (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio American De Quito) boasts the highest undefeated record at 3-0.

A Young Team
The Brewers also have an overwhelmingly young team, with only two juniors and no seniors in a 13-person team. Both captains, Daniel Cooper (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) and Christian Phelps (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire Memorial) are sophomores.

Strong in Doubles
The Brewers are better together than on their own, boasting a .857 win percentage among doubles teams compared to a .808 score in individual teams.

High-Stakes Rematches
The Vassar men's tennis team has never defeated any of the competing colleges except for Mary Washington, but is coming in to the event with the best season record so far. Only time will tell if they can reverse records as tough as their 0-2 record against North Carolina Wesleyan.

Up Next
The Brewers will next host Brandeis University on Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 pm in Walker Field House.
