Orlando, FL – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 decision to #36 Southwestern Tuesday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
Eugene Lee (Chico, CA),
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and
Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) all won singles decisions for the Brewers in the contest.
Wednesday's defeat to the Pirates drops Vassar to 5-4 overall on the season with Southwestern improving to 8-2.
Doubles
- The Pirates won the doubles point with victories at the top two positions.
- Vassar's third pair of Lee and Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) cruised to a 6-2 victory against the Pirates.
Singles
- Vassar was victorious at the top three singles decisions against the Pirates and tied the match at 3-3.
- Lee improved to 4-2 on the season after scoring a tight 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) victory at the top flight.
- Bauermeister would outlast his opponent at the second slot and evened his spring record at 3-3 with a hard fought 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) victory.
- Kubiak moved to 3-1 through four singles decisions this spring after posting a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win for the Brewers.
- Santos suffered a tough 6-4, 2-6, 0-1 (5-10) defeat at the fifth slot.
- Likewise at six, Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) was outlasted 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (7-10).

- Vassar will round out its stay in the Sunshine State Thursday against Franklin and Marshall.
