POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 7, 2013) – The Vassar College men's and women's fencing teams have a busy weekend in store, traveling to New York City tonight for action against NYU and Columbia University and to Boston Saturday morning to face University of New Hampshire, Boston University, Sacred Heart and Dartmouth, UMass and Wellesley College.

Vassar Women's Notes: The Brewers enter the weekend with a 10-16 season record.
The women's team is coming off a victorious Senior Day in which they finished 3-1 on the day, topping Queens, Drew and Hunter and falling only to Yale. Senior captain
Katie LeClair (44-21 on the season) went undefeated in foil, finishing with a 6-0 record. Under LeClair's lead, the foil squad picked up three wins and was narrowly defeated by Yale 4-5. In sabre, senior
Tracy Bratt (29-37 on the season) led with a winning 7-2 performance on the day. Bratt went undefeated against Queens. Senior captain
Caitlin Clevenger led the epee squad with a 5-2 record. Clevenger holds a winning 43-22 record over the season.
Vassar Men's Notes: The Brewers enter the weekend with an 11-13 season record.
The men's team also posted outstanding performances on Senior Day, finishing 2-1 on the day. Men's sabre had a particularly strong afternoon with victories across the board against Yale, Queens and Hunter. Squad leader junior
John Arden went undefeated on the day, earning an impressive 9-0 record. Arden has a winning 40-21 record on the season. Senior captain
Tavish Pegram led epee 6-1, picking up his only loss against a competitive Drew squad. Pegram holds a winning 29-15 record over the season. In foil, senior
Alex Vastola leads with a 22-28 record.
Next Up: The Brewers will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference Championships on Saturday, February 23 at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. Fencing will begin at 8 am.
