POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 27, 2013) -- The Vassar College men's and women's fencing teams have their last shot at conference action this Saturday and Sunday in the rescheduled Northeast Conference Match #3 against University of New Hampshire, Boston University, Sacred Heart and Dartmouth, UMass and Wellesley College. The Brewers are coming off a successful day of fencing at the Northeast Fencing Conference Championships last Saturday.

Vassar Women's Notes: The Brewers enter the weekend with a 10-18 record.
Senior captain
Katie LeClair had a standout performance last weekend as she captured her second consecutive individual NEIFC title. Senior captain
Caitlin Clevenger also shined at the conference championships, finishing third individually in epee and leading her squad to a third place team finish. Squadmate freshman
Rachel Messbauer finished seventh individually. The women's squads combined to finish sixth overall in the three-weapon standings.
Vassar Men's Notes: The Brewers enter the weekend with an 11-15 record.
The men's team is fresh off a strong showing at Northeast Conference Championships, with notable performances by juniors
John Arden and
Matt Steinschneider. Arden led the sabre squad to a fifth place team standing with his fourth place individual finish. Fellow squad member freshman Zach Wilson finished 8th individually. The foil squad finished third overall with Steinschneider leading the team with a tenth place individual finish. The men's three-weapon team finished fifth overall.
Next Up: The Brewers will travel to St. John's University in Queens, NY to compete in the Northeast Region National Qualifer Meet on Sunday, March 10 at 8 a.m.
