POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 21, 2012) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team entered the final game of the regular season looking to spoil Clarkson University's playoff chances, but the Brewers came up short, falling 13-5 at Gordon Field on Senior Day.
Clarkson jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 6-1 lead into the half. Vassar rallied back from a 10-2 deficit entering the fourth quarter with three goals in the final frame.
The Brewers conclude their season at 3-10, 0-6 in the Liberty League. Clarkson finishes the regular season 9-5, 3-3 in the Liberty League and qualifies for the Liberty League playoffs. The Golden Knights will face top-seed Rochester Institute of Technology in the semifinals.

The Brewers first goal was a beauty as the team cut into their 5-0 deficit when senior midfielder
Jeff Lee found a cutting Herman in front. In one fluid motion Herman calmly caught the pass and deposited it in the back of the net.

Andrew Nicol saved 15 shots in the game, a number of which featured acrobatic efforts.
Freshman attack Corey Herrington led the Golden Knights with four goals. Freshman midfielder Matthew Gold contributed three assists.
Junior midfielder
Casey Rice and Nicol led Vassar with five groundballs each. Clarkson was led by senior defender Matt Davidson and sophomore midfielder Jack Keenan with five groundballs each.
