ITHACA, NY (October 14, 2012) – The Vassar College women's tennis team finished their fall schedule today at the New York State DIII Women's Tennis Championships at Ithaca College Sunday.

Hannah Van Demark advanced all the way to the final match after she defeated Emily Aaldenberg of RPI 6-1, 6-2. Van Demark fell to Skidmore College's Caroline Hobbs 6-4, 6-1. Lauren Stauffer also competed today in the semifinals.  She lost to Skidmore's Robyn Baird 6-2, 6-4.

“Hannah and Lauren fought hard but were beaten in competitive matches,” assistant coach Mark Chase said. “The positive is that we can tell that this experience of playing at this high of a level bodes well for the upcoming spring season.”

Van Demark finished the fall schedule with an overall singles record of 3-4. Stauffer finished with a record of 5-4.

“The thing that we have to look forward to the most is that we have a very young team with two seniors, one junior and seven underclassmen,” head coach Kathy Campbell said. “We had an extremely successful fall season with continuous improvement and we've been experimenting with different doubles combinations. We set a tone for a strong work ethic and we're anxious about our development for the spring.”

The Brewers advance players to one final round, three semifinal rounds and two quarter-final rounds in singles action and on pair of doubles to a semifinal round and one to a quarter-final round.
