Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team clinched the top seed in the Liberty League Championship and wrapped up an unbeaten conference schedule on Saturday following a 7-0 home win over Skidmore.
Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) earned her team leading 13
th singles win over the season in the victory.
Vassar, who has won 10 straight matches, enters the conference championship at 13-5 overall and 8-0 against league rivals. Skidmore falls to 4-13 overall and 4-3 against league rivals with Saturday's defeat.
Doubles
- Vassar took the second and third doubles matches on Saturday to open a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Krishnan and Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) won their ninth straight decision and moved to 12-3 following a 6-4 second doubles win.
- At the third position, Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) and Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) improved 9-0 after dispatching Skidmore's third pair 6-0.
Singles
- Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) breezed to her seventh straight singles victory with a 6-2, 6-4 first singles triumph.
- At the second position, Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) cruised to a sixth straight victory in a 6-2, 6-0 decision.
- Lee won her ninth straight singles match and improved to 10-2 on the season following a 6-1, 6-1 third singles win.
- Krishnan continued a stellar senior season, moving to 13-3 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fourth position, her 10th straight victory.
