Results

ITHACA, NY (October 13, 2012) – Lauren Stauffer and Hannah Van Demark are still unbeaten at the 2012 New York State Division III Women's Championships in singles play and will continue play tomorrow afternoon.

Stauffer and Winifred Yeates won the most matches for Vassar in doubles competition with an 8-2 win against a pair from Hamilton and an 8-1 win over a duo from William Smith. The Brewer pair fell to Alex Smith and Rachel Plevinsky of Skidmore College 8-4 to end their run towards the championship.
“The team has done a great job by dealing with the tough weather conditions and especially without our number one (Ava Sadeghi) and number two (Samantha Schapiro) players, we've all really stepped up and kept our heads up,” senior captain Natile Santiago said. “We are all looking forward to spring season and we're excited to see how good we'll be then.”

Stauffer will face Robyn Baird of Skidmore tomorrow while Van Demark will go against RPI's Emily Aaldenberg. “Lauren's match is going to be great to watch,” Santiago said. “The match is going to have a lot of aggressive shots and strong serves and it is going to be a pretty close match. Hannah has been playing amazing singles play and she has really stepped up to this challenge. We all feel confident about Lauren and Hannah's matches tomorrow.”
