POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 20, 2011) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team suffered its first loss to Fordham University in three years as the Rams prevailed 7-2 Sunday afternoon at Walker Field House.

The Brewers (3-1) travel to Muhlenberg on Saturday, February 26 for a 1:00 p.m. match. The Rams (2-6) face St. Peter's on the road on Wednesday, March 2, at 4:00 p.m.

At No. 2 doubles, Vassar's Jennifer Beckerman and Alyssa Roush took out Hanna Fritzinger and Bethany Boyle 8-3 for Vassar's only doubles win.

Freshman Lindsay Kantor picked up the only singles point with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Jenny Mullen of Fordham.

"I'm pleased with how our team competed against a very strong Fordham sqaud in our first spring season match today," said head coach Kathy Campbell. "Their No. 1 from last year is now playing No. 4 which is evidence of their strength this year. It will serve us well down the road to have faced this challenging competition early in the season."
