FARMINGDALE, NY (April 8, 2009) – On a night when 10 different players got into the scoring column, including five Brewers who tallied two goals each, the Vassar men's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with an impressive 15-9 win over Farmingdale State on Wednesday night.
The victory propels Vassar back into Liberty League action against St. Lawrence on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. with a 4-6 record. Farmingdale State falls to 3-8 and will return to Skyline Conference play against Kean on April 11 at 1:00 p.m.
Under crisp 40 degree playing conditions, the Vassar offense took no time in firing on all cylinders. The Brewers scored 12 of the game's first 13 goals, and took a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime. The Rams hung tough, however, scoring seven second half goals, but until the final two tallies were always doubled-up by the Brewers on the scoreboard.

Dan Feinberg added the first of his two goals 19 seconds later, and the Brewers were off to a fast and furious start. Three different players scored over the next six minutes for a 5-0 lead. To start the second period, freshman midfielder
Matthew Pearce added his second straight one (the first ended the opening period) and the Brewers went ahead 7-1. Mackenzie ended the first half with his second goal of the game, lifting the Brewers to a comfortable 12-2 lead.
The Rams opened the second half with a goal flurry, scoring four of the third period's five goals to cut into the Vassar lead at 13-6. Farmingdale State's Sean Maxwell had two goals during this stretch and tallied three for the game. Farmingdale used a pair of goalies, with Patrick Delventhal making five saves as the starter and replacement Teddy Leone adding nine saves in a 45 minute relief performance. The Rams were scrappy in the field, garnering 51 ground balls. Vassar had 46 shots and the host Rams had 37.
