RIVERDALE, NY (April 9, 2008) -- For the second straight year, Vassar's men's tennis team has knocked off a Division I program in impressive fashion. On Wednesday afternoon, the Brewers dispatched of Fordham University 7-0 to raise their spring record to 11-2. Vassar won all but one singles match in straight sets, and although the Brewers dropped the No. 3 doubles match, winning the first two doubles matches against the Rams secured the first point of the match.
"Everyone played well today and stepped up," said head coach Ki Kroll. "I am proud of the way our guys competed today, which was necessary going into Saturday's match against Tufts."
Vassar, winners of four straight, hosts Tufts this Saturday at 12:30 in a match between two evenly ranked teams. In the most recent ITA Northeast rankings Tufts holds the No. 9 position while Vassar is ranked No. 10. Expected rain on Saturday will move the match indoors to Walker Field House.
Saturday's match against Tufts will be the final home match for senior captain Ashish Patil (Silsbee, TX).
