Hilton, NY - The United Volleyball Conference (UVC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon as Vassar College Men's Volleyball junior
Armaan Desai scored his second Player of the Week honor of the season.
In two matches against top-10 nationally ranked foes, Desai recorded 33 kills while hitting .536 and added two aces and 11 total blocks (4 solo) in a 2-1 week for the Brewers. Desai buried 20 kills without an error (.690) and four total blocks (two solo) in a narrow five-set loss against #9 NYU on Wednesday before helping lead Vassar to a upset victory over #3 Stevens on Saturday with 13 kills (.370) and seven total blocks (two solo).
Desai is ranked third in the country in blocks per set at 1.18 and is seventh nationally in solo blocks with 24 which has helped the Brewers to the nation's leading mark in blocks per set in the country at 2.56. Desai has already recorded new career-highs in kills (173), kills per set (2.34), solo blocks (26), total blocks (88), blocks per set (1.19), points (244) and points per set (3.30) this season. Desai's 26 solo blocks ranks second all-time in a single season, trailing former All-American Matthew Knigge who finished with 29 in 2016.
Vassar will begin the UVC Championship on Friday evening as the fifth-seeded Brewers will take on fourth-seeded Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
