Troy, NY – The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners in baseball on Tuesday morning as Vassar College Baseball senior outfielder
Jensen Bergman was named the league's Performer of the Week.
Bergman put together a record-setting weekend for the Brewers to help lead Vassar to a conference series victory over Union along with a non-conference win over Old Westbury. Bergman finished the week going 12-for-17 (.706) with four extra base hits (two doubles, one triple and a homer), 10 runs scored, 12 RBI, two stolen bases, two walks and two HBP. Bergman posted a 4-for-5 day with three RBI, three runs scored and a double in a 22-8 victory over Old Westbury on Wednesday followed by a historic doubleheader performance against Union on Sunday.
In game one of the doubleheader on Sunday, the senior went 4-for-5 with four RBI, a run scored, a stolen base and a walk in a 15-5 run-rule win over Union before hitting for the cycle in the nightcap behind a 4-for-5 effort with five RBI, five runs scored, a stolen base and a HBP. Bergman also broke the program's all-time triples record in the second game of the doubleheader on the way to hitting for the cycle for the first time in program history.
Bergman currently ranks second in the conference in batting average at .462, is fifth in OPS at 1.334 and leads the conference in triples with four.
Vassar (5-11, 2-4 LL) returns to the field tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against Mount Saint Vincent at Prentiss Field.
